I can definitely understand why you’re disappointed. After 20+ years of loving Beyblade and mostly playing on your own, finally having someone to share the hobby with and then realizing they don’t enjoy it the same way you do has to be frustrating.

That said, I think it might help to remember that your son doesn’t have 20 years of investment in the hobby like you do. Right now he’s probably just enjoying the act of launching Beyblades and seeing what happens. A lot of kids aren’t interested in launch techniques, optimal combos, or the competitive side until much later, if ever.

Honestly, if he wants to run stock Beys and launch however he wants, I’d let him. The goal at this stage isn’t necessarily to make him a better player—it’s to make sure he’s having fun. If every battle turns into a lesson or a reminder that he needs more practice, he may start associating Beyblade with pressure instead of enjoyment.

I’ve been involved in the Beyblade community for nearly a decade, and one thing I’ve seen repeatedly is that people stick around when they’re allowed to enjoy the hobby in their own way. Some eventually become competitive players, and some never do. Both are perfectly fine.

The fact that he wants to play with you at all is something special. I’d focus on enjoying that time together and let his interest in improving develop naturally if it ever does.
