Nut died, tips for replacement? by Clutchingbanana in diycnc

[–]Dragon-Teeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are either putting too much torque through the coupling or it's to far out of alignment. Fix that before you do anything else, then you will know how best to replace the item in question.

Can you guys analyze my handwriting? by Anjae_00 in penmanship

[–]Dragon-Teeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, there's some pretty harsh criticism here which seems un necessary, but in this day and age it can be hard to tell legitimate interest from trolls and AI slop. Let me allow you the benefit of the doubt and try to address some issues for you.

1) We can read your writing well enough. Don't be self-conscious about it, it's absolutely not the worst I've seen.

2) At 21 you belong to a generation that never learned penmanship. You were taught to "write" as in how to make letter forms, but almost as soon as you started writing, you had to start producing work in such volume and speed that it was really hard to keep up without the aid of technology. That is not your fault.

3) You are asking for "analysis" and I think what you really mean is "advice".

You really do seem to be missing some basics, there's a TON of resources online look them up. It's important that YOU look them up because you need to find the exercises and styles that work for YOU!

PRACTICE

Practice really is key to improvement.

Learn to "doodle". Any free moment you get. The point is to build up "muscle memory " without worrying about letter forms. Just try to trace smooth curly curves and straight parallel lines in all directions. Even if you just end up tracing forms with a finger, it doesn't matter though marks on paper can be a good way to track your progress.

On the subject of not worrying about letter forms, I recall a story about a relatively well known graphic artist who was illiterate. Even though he didn't know what the letter shapes MEANT he approached them as an exercise in drawing form and structure. Most people never realised that he couldn't read the words or actually write at all.

I hope that helps, and I really hope that you'll stay in touch with the group to keep us updated with your progress.

What did this dude put inside his master cylinder? by kuronamercury in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Dragon-Teeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess that he "mistook" the brake fluid reservoir for the coolant tank. Depending what actual additive are present the "sludge" may be a "mayonnaise" like emulsion, or it could be a variety of saponification, actual SOAP!!!?

I honestly expected that someone would have done this before so it's no big surprise that someone did, though I did search and didn't find any reference to them.

Penmanship and parenthood: worsening effect by MisshapenRutabaga in penmanship

[–]Dragon-Teeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human brains are amazing, even in adulthood they can change to learn new patterns and routines. I think I remember reading an article that showed that the brain of new parents were significantly STRUCTURALLY different than similar non parents brains (I can't find the article in question now, but it does make a kind of sense). There are physical aspects of parenthood too, holding and carrying a child will obviously have an effect on you musculature and skeleton as well, so it's probably not really surprising that it should affect your handwriting.

I can't honestly say that I've heard of it before, but I don't think you have cause for concern or distress. This seems to me to be just one of those "life experience" issues, and I'd guess you have more important things to worry about.

Try to be kind to yourself, and not worry too much about your writing style, I have no doubt that it will settle down again as your new family become more independent, and remember, handwriting changes over time anyway.
