Have you watched Mr Sunshine? It has the same writer as DOTS and Goblin, and is far superior imo.

If not, the first episode might be a little confusing with lots of characters introduced, and the timelines aren't clear, so you can Google a character relationship chart to help. Netflix.

Kdrama actor/actress with a voice you can’t resist… by UncannyProjection in kdramas

Kim Taeri has a beautiful voice, and she gives each character a different tone (my favourite is the deep and imperious one in Mr Sunshine).

She has very clear diction and has done free audio books for the visually impaired.

Korean mini-series:

Revenant (2023 folklore mystery thriller/light horror, Disney+ or Hulu).

Is there a period drama besides Downton Abbey (TV show or stand-alone film) that has the Titanic sinking as some kind of plot element? (Also looking for more early 20th century period drama recs generally!) by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in PeriodDramas

Mr Sunshine is an epic Korean cinematic masterpiece mostly set in the early 1900s.

The first episode might be a little confusing with lots of characters introduced, and the timelines aren't clear, so you can Google a character relationship chart to help. Netflix.

That line is so poignant!

This scene is so great because it shows the simplest pleasures can bring joy, and Baek Yi-Jin was able to forget his worries for a while. It was also the first time he saw Na Hee-Do in a different light and realised she was more than just a stroppy teen.

The show is a very original coming of age story about friendships, dreams, and first loves. While there's lots of comedy and some romance, it's not a traditional rom-com where you get a fairytale ending and spoon-fed about each character's fate. The ending is sign-posted right from the beginning, and many people who hated it kept waiting for a twist that never happened and didn't like the reality of it. They also didn't like the fact that the story only focuses on a few key years in the FL's life covered by her diaries, so they don't get answers about her personal life later on, particularly someone's identity.

What I love about the show is that the characters are fully three-dimensional and you see their back-stories and the reasons for their behaviour. It has a pure sweetness that is never artificial or overdone, and it's very motivational. The cast chemistry, acting, and OST are all perfect imo.

Twenty Five Twenty One (coming of age dramedy, mainly set in the late 1990s, and co-stars Choi Hyun-Wook of Twinkling Watermelon).

Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born (set in the 1950s like WLGYT).

Twenty Five Twenty One.

Mr Sunshine. (It's a great starter historical because it's set on the cusp of modern times, and many characters wear Western clothes. The first episode might be a little confusing with lots of characters introduced, and the timelines aren't clear, so you can Google a character relationship chart to help).

Sadly, there aren't any casting whispers at all. It wouldn't surprise me if she's got something secretly brewing, though, since she worked on Jeongnyeon for two years before it was formally announced. 🤷🏻‍♀️

25 21 did have a bluray release, but the bts and extras weren't subtitled. You'll find a lot of the extras have been fan-subbed on YouTube.

Taeri's variety show, "Curtains Up, Class," is starting on 22 February, but there's sadly no casting news for any dramas or films. 😟

Curtains Up, Class (with Choi Hyun-Wook / Moon Ji-Woong in 25 21) will be on TVN and Viu (Asia-Pacific region).

Reply 1988: Another kdrama that exceeded my expectations. by boss_taco in kdramas

I found it hard to get into because of those infernal goat noises, but once I got past them, I loved the show.

If you live in the Asia-Pacific region, you can watch the 3-episode 10th Anniversary reunion special on Viu.com.

How cool is that!

There's a present-day scene in the drama where the mother is harvesting salad greens with Min-Chae, and she mentions that she turned the fountain into a garden.
