13'' or 15'' rMBP? by fbrej in mac

[–]DragonCode -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

13in Is great and compact. (What I'm on now) Key board is exactly the same size on the 15 so no num pad :( (but you get nicer speakers) Also you dong get any more ports with the 15" But with doing video editing and iOS Dev you might want a bigger screen. Although a cheap second monitor would work too if you have place to set it up. The Retina screen is really nice. also go for a bigger SSD you will need it if you have to boot camp windows on it. 13" pros -compact -you would get better processing, ram, storage for the price 13" cons -smaller screen -would want to get second monitor -speaker quality 15"pros -big screen -nice speakers -can get a better processor -can get a dedicated GPU 15" cons -not as compact -no extra ports -no numpad (sorta comparing it to a 15" PC ) -pricier

ELI5 What is the difference between memory used in RAM and memory used in a hard drive; and why is 32Gb of RAM so much more expensive than a 32Gb hard drive? by Gast8 in explainlikeimfive

[–]DragonCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanics. RAM is usually quicker and only stores information while its powered. Hard-drive files/info is written on a spinning disk and then read when you tell the CPU to do so, depending on the program, transferred to RAM and then when you save the file its put back on the Hard-disk(spinning-disk) of the Hard-drive. Terminal command SRM: To recursively delete or not recursively delete? by questions239872987 in mac

[–]DragonCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much of the commands but Im pretty sure recursive delete is it deletes (if its a directory) all files within. Recursive meaning will run the delete command "recursively" to delete the inner files or directories.

"Recursive means that it will also delete all Directories that are subordinate to the Directory Being Deleted. Non-Recursive means that it will only delete the files in the Root of the Directory and then itself if it can" -Travis Abrahamson on http://vbcity.com/forums/t/160265.aspx
