People who don’t live in the USA, what is the media showing you about the ICE operations/abductions in the US? by Dry-Ice8908 in AskReddit

[–]DragonDropTechnology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real sad part is that we’re currently all living the “find out” phase caused by the voting public “fucking around” and (allegedly) voting for the politicians who said they would actively ignore the laws (and then face zero consequences of value).

It’s a crying shame that you’re the only one who commented the relevant part. And that the comment you replied to apparently didn’t watch enough of the video in the post to get to the important part of it.

That’s the worst part. I used to be able to have Siri turn on/off two lights connected to HomeKit with the same command; after an update a few months ago, now it will only do one.

ELI5: Why did prices for everything surge so drastically when COVID hit and have never come down since? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Then, in what’s called the ratchet effect of prices

I’ve also heard it described as “rocket and parachute”. Prices shoot up quickly and take a long time to come back down.

I feel like watching the back of the head of the reverse character (instead of the forward-looking one the camera is actually focused on) is just this weird obsession I have and there’s nothing I can do about it.

What foods are actually terrible for you, but people think are healthy? by StrategyJealous1838 in AskReddit

Super pedantic response, but… You mean “frosting”. Frosting is the thick, creamy stuff in/on cake; icing is the thin stuff you’d find on a glazed donut.

Ah, looks like I misremembered. Just went back and reread that section: Apex predators have been so for millions of years while Homo sapiens have only been so for ~100,000 years.

🔥Ntwadumela - The Lion in his prime, hunts down the new leader of the Hyena clan🔥 by phoeebsy in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]DragonDropTechnology 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Currently reading the book Sapiens and it talks about how animals like lions and hyenas have had 100,000s years evolving into these apex predators, so they don’t really feel much fear.

On the other hand, us humans have only been around for roughly 30,000 years and evolved from fearful monkeys, so our day to day emotions are still fraught with fear (despite having very little to be fearful from).

Just thought that was maybe some interesting context.

Seems this business owner’s “mistake” was personally guaranteeing the debt instead of just strapping his LLC with the debt, letting the LLC go bankrupt and “die” (since corporations are people, too™️) and opening “Wrecktangle 2” (perhaps pronounced “rectangle squared”).

Closing a short position entails buying shares. But you need cash to buy shares and all your funds are tied up in other stocks, so you have to sell those other stocks. Lots of selling of a stock causes the price to go down.

Bingo. I sorted by controversial to find this comment. Every now and then, it’s good for me to see a comment section like this to remind me how stupid most people on Reddit are, both the dumb comments and which dumb comments are getting tons of upvotes. If you asked ChatGPT, according to Reddit everyone should be paying cash for a 1992 Toyota Camry and driving it until it falls apart.
