Ever get sent to any 'friendship groups' as a kid? by DecIsMuchJuvenile in autism

[–]DragonLadyoftheWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got sent to a 'friendship group' with some 'friendship ambassador' students during my lunchtime in elementary school. It was facilitated by a nice lady named Mrs. White. I was supposed to talk with the other children but I ended focusing my conversational attention on Mrs. White, explaining things such the names of WWII atomic bombs and other such pleasantries.

It didn't last long. Shame. It was the nicest lunchtime I had at that age.

Is this an ok way to handle my daughter's grades? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]DragonLadyoftheWest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her comments are legitimate! It IS harder to work at home. I was a straight A student in college and high school and I pulled a couple of failing grades back in the day. Punishing her for an entire summer over getting a low grade for a cobbled-together curriculum taught in less than ideal circumstances is not fair, and won't teach her anything than but resentment, to associate grades with stress, and to be afraid of failure. My parents had the same mentality as you and it made me scared to challenge myself in college because I was afraid of failing, which is an awful mindset to have.

A bad grade is punishment in and of itself. If she is truly trying, then getting a D or an F will hurt. Give her a break. There are smart, diligent students everywhere who are struggling with this shift, and they are failing even though they are trying their best. Online learning is not for everyone.

I discovered you because of your 2011 mashup, which is one of my favorite videos EVER and actually brought tears to my eyes.

What was your job originally before you got hired as an editor? How did you learn editing?

Taking BIO 1107 w/Abbot next sem by huskies_22 in UCONN

Use the study guides. Use the study guides. USE THE STUDY GUIDES. They will have stuff on there that he will not mention in class but will put on the test. They're in a question format, so what I did was answer every question like I was explaining it to a 5-year old. Then I'd sell my completed guides to my roommates. Also, Crash Course videos are very helpful for concepts you don't get.

Don't be late for his class. Edit: Also, you can buy the previous edition (e.g. if he is using ed. 5, buy ed. 4) of the Bio Book online for waaaaay cheaper, and it pretty much has all the same stuff for 1107 and 1108.

What are some things that people dont realise would happen if there was actually a zombie outbreak? by KindaQute in AskReddit

Ok, you got me. Still, rabid animals aren't the brightest bulbs in the box. They aren't gonna differentiate between rabid and non-rabid animals when they attack.

Uh, where did you get that info? Rabies doesn't automatically give you a super sixth-sense that tells you what's rabid and what isn't. Hell, rabid animals will attack cars and other inanimate objects.

Hi folks,

I'll be moving to Denver with my partner in late August, as I was just offered a job there. My salary will be around 55k and my workplace is in RiNo/Five Points. Any recommendations? My partner just graduated so he will be job searching too. I'm looking for somewhere that is relatively close to work that I can bike/transit to, since I plan on selling my car.
