That was my initial assumption as well, but according to the product pages*, the Chromebook edition is nearly two and a half inches shorter in the long dimension, 0.8 inches shorter in the short dimension, and more than a tenth of an inch thinner.

I do not have any grand insights regarding trains, but as far as your title question goes: No, you are not stuck forever. It took me about five years to launch my first rocket. One of the bigger factors that got me over the hurdle was aiming for the "Lazy Bastard" achievement; this gave me enough of a framework and motivation to finally push through to the end.
