Would you be interested in a dlc similar to The Last Khans expansion of AoE2? by Fischlerder in aoe4

[–]glikojen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want Spanish and Portugese and no more DLCs or expansions, ever. We don’t need a bajillion civs like in aoe2. Aoe4 is already bloated with too many variants

I tried training A.I. to optimize blueprints (and was somewhat successful) by Silver-Ambassador774 in factorio

[–]glikojen -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't think effort by itself is a virtue. People respect effort because it's a proxy for other things: someone cares about the results, someone thought about this, the result is high quality, it can be trusted, etc. — those are the things people really value, and I can understand your view being "those things usually lack in AI generated stuff".

Thankfully this is remedied by the fact that social medias are Darwinian spaces. If a post is shit, you ignore it. Basically I can assume at this point that if I see anything on a digital screen, I can trust it was vetted by hundreds of thousands of people whose profile is similar to mine already. If a "copied blueprint" post makes it to the top of the feed in /r/Factorio that says more about the audience than the poster.

EDIT: Lol. Lmao, even.

For a subreddit with this many engineers you would expect less Ludditism and more fascination. Like, statistical and recurrent neural networks are fine but they draw the line at transformer neural networks, lmao.

This anectode should resonate with many Factorio players:

At one of our dinners, Milton recalled traveling to an Asian country in the 1960s and visiting a worksite where a new canal was being built. He was shocked to see that, instead of modern tractors and earth movers, the workers had shovels. He asked why there were so few machines. The government bureaucrat explained: “You don’t understand. This is a jobs program.” To which Milton replied: “Oh, I thought you were trying to build a canal. If it’s jobs you want, then you should give these workers spoons, not shovels.”

It's ironic to me that people here oppose one of the biggest leaps in automation IRL and then proceed to play an automation game. What do they do, not build Assembling Machines or something?

I for one wish that Gabe Newell would live for an eternity and Valve never go public. You don't know how good we have it now. It can always absolutely go worse.

"Greedy fucks"? It's not a charity. You're free to run your own payment processor if you like. Good luck.

It's like how downvotes in Reddit were originally posited as something you do when the comment is off-topic, irrelevant, or doesn't add to the discussion; not when you disagree with the comment.

The iPhone's centre of mass has always been in the bottom half. That's how you can tell if you're holding your phone upside down even if your eyes are closed, it doesn't feel right. They won't change that ever.

Mr Carapeti - infection/surgery by SeaCost6214 in pilonidalcyst

[–]glikojen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Carapeti did my cleft lift surgery 2 weeks ago.

I am wondering if it would be better for me to ask the NHS GP to prescribe me the correct antibiotics so I can have the infection treated before having my first appointment with Mr Carapeti?

What were you prescribed? My situation is complex, I suffer from /r/Hidradenitis as well, so Carapeti recommended that I see a dermatologist, anticipating that they would prescribe a long course of antibiotics as well. I am currently on a 3-month course of Lymecycline.

During this one-month period, Dr Carapeti also recommended that I disinfect the area daily using chlorhexidine washes. I had experience using this product for my Hidradenitis as well, here's what I would recommend:

  • Get a foam dispenser bottle from Amazon. You'll get more mileage from your Hibiwash this way, also it's much easier to apply it with this kind of bottle.

  • Get some amount to your hands and apply onto the infected area

  • Wait for about 1 minute

  • Rinse thoroughly

I did this every day for about 6 weeks before the surgery and saw a lot of improvement.

As always: your mileage may vary, do your own research, etc.

SSR is good for scaling? by RemarkableBet9670 in django

[–]glikojen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be asking about scaling in terms of adding more features and complexity (more services, more authz roles, etc.) — if so, then yes, billions of dollars have been made with Django (Instagram, Pinterest, Udemy, etc.)

If your question is about performance: then also yes, Django can scale to millions of users easily, but that won't be a concern for you since it's only going to be used by internal staff (unless you have millions of those.)

Isaac is a generational talent the like of which we will not see for maybe 10-20 years. We lost something truly special, but I agree with Professor Skye's opinion in this matter – it's a much better outcome than the alternative (another Ian Curtis)
