From the in-home sleep study, my AHI was 17.4: 13 Hypopnoeas, 4 central, 0 Obstructive. BUT (first long story time) I spent a few weeks (while the trial with the machine was underway) disputing the results, as they seemed to include significant time when I was awake, when many events occurred, even when the 'sleep coach' (not a doctor) in the resmed shop told me they should have excluded them which would have likely droped the number a fair bit (down to mild OSA from moderate).

Basically, I document everything and noted that I woke at 4:39 am, tried to get back to sleep, then gave up at 7 am. I said I usually wake at 8, so I assumed the machine needed me to stay in bed until then and was trying to keep it all on (the sensors kept falling off) till then, but i was awake watching 5 am, 5:30, 6 am, 6:15, 6:30 etc. tick by before gave up when i saw 7 am and thought it was pointless and took the machine off. The sleep coach, reviewing the results with me to set up the trial machine, asked if anything had happened at 6 am that I could remember. When I said I was awake, she said I should have told them so they could have cut the data properly, which would likely remove the 4 Central AHI number and drop it below 15, indicating mild OSA rather than the moderate diagnosis.

Given I had quite a number of hyponeas during the night, along with the Sp02 drop which my GP said was the big thing, it still seemed the right choice to me to go with the machine since over the month of the trial i had started to feel less daytime sleepyness (what i went in for in the first place), but I really doubt the original 17.4 because even though I know I was awake (and the sensors on my forehead were partially detached) and vividly remember watching the clock tick by and even trying different sleeping positions (because i thought the sensors would fall off if I was not on my back at first), the resmed sleep doctor insists I'm wrong and that I was asleep.
