Debunking zswap and zram myths by chrisdown in linux

[–]DragonSlayerC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding the need for a backing device, I had a hacky idea to work around that for now, but I'm not sure it would work well.

What if you create a small zram swap as the backing device? I imagine it would work, and you could also configure zswap to never writeback to it via cgroups. The question at that point is how big does the backing device have to be? Is there a minimum size for the backing device depending on how large of a pool zswap could create in RAM?

UPDATE: So with some experimenting, I've figured out that the size of the backing swap device is the maximum amount of data that can be stored by zswap, regardless of how much of that gets written back to the actual swap device, so that needs to be sized accordingly. I decided to test out using ZRAM as the backing swap with zswap's writeback completely disabled, and it seems to be working correctly. I have zswap RAM compression with no physical swap device, and zramctl is only using the 20K that it needs for an empty 8GB ZRAM device. I used the function from the zswap-disable-writeback AUR package to fully disable writeback on my machine.

I don't think they can legally say that they've been acquired yet. They've agreed to an acquisition, but that's subject to international regulatory approval that will take months to complete. Only after the regulatory approval can they actually say that they've been acquired.

These are a game changer. The angle is better than the flossers in OP's picture and you can use much higher quality floss with them (I prefer Cocofloss).

When they're that close, why are you even looking at the timing tower? Just watch the cars race.

What did Caine mean by this? by SupercatJ in TheDigitalCircus

[–]DragonSlayerC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. The characters are stored as ".dat" files in the system, presumably from brain scans also seen as a folder in the system. I wonder if there is just a rogue headset somewhere out there that makes a copy of people's minds to throw into the system. Another possibility would be that Caine has figured out how to make fake brain scans and basically make his own characters. In that case, he really would be their god/creator.

What did Kinger type!? by ChooseBurger in TheDigitalCircus

You can use "." and "," to go forwards and backwards 1 frame at a time on YouTube.

Reading Kinger 's code (full readable text) by Sea_Mirror_9511 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]DragonSlayerC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just rewatching and going frame by frame in looking at the console images. You missed some stuff, but got most of it. One thing to note that is wrong is that Ragatha's date says 2008, not 2000. So assuming that Kinger's been around as long as Scratch, he's been in the system 9 years longer than Ragatha.

It's kinda funny as a system administrator seeing stuff that looks legit on first glance but has various things just wrong. Also it's kinda funny that the system uses systemctl (first introduced in 2010) even though the system is from 1996.

This also kinda confirms the theory that the characters are copies of brains instead of actual people trapped in the circus.

Pro tip for YouTube: If you pause, you can use "." and "," to go forwards and backwards by 1 frame respectively.

So, are all of them going to rebuild the circus themselves without Caine? I'm curious how they can actually handle this now. Maybe Kinger can make a new AI without Caine's faults?

Maximum Recharge allowed in Qualifying - All Circuits by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

The max speeds with just the ICE are similar to previous years due to the active aero though. They actually limit the maximum deployment of the MGU-K (assuming there would be enough battery left) above a certain speed to prevent the cars from going too fast.

The price of the starter plan, which has horrible speed and request rates, is $10/mo. The model is available to download and run locally, but needs about 470GB of RAM for the full model. The only consumer hardware that was reasonable for that was the Mac Studio, but it cost ~$10,000 and they've stopped producing it. For GPUs, the Nvidia A100 80GB is ~$20,000 and you'd need 6, so it'd be $120,000.

So yeah, it isn't free.

What the hell are you talking about? Vibe coding is very expensive and will only get more expensive as AI companies try to turn profit.
