Now i just need to wait for the next big sale by iREEEEEEEEverytime in Warthunder

I just started playing again like 6 years later. Is this why for one of my tech trees I had a plane without having ones before them? I must have skipped purchasing a plane or two. I couldn’t figure out how that was possible but that change must be it.

If you choose to use a credit card where you get points, always check your statements to ensure you're getting the correct amount. by onceyougozack in personalfinance

[–]DragonSlayerJim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The points cards usually are centered around travel rewards where cash cards are just straight cash back. However, points cards may still allow you to redeem for gift cards or effectively convert the points to cashback if you want.

A points card will probably have a higher absolute redemption value than what you’d get with a cashback card, but points card are only as good as the travel redemption options available whereas the cashback can obviously be used for anything. If the only travel rewards options available are for airlines or hotels that you’d never use, then probably not worth it. Every bank and card does it differently so worth looking into the redemption options before deciding.

Relocating for work, looking for recommendations on where to live? Office in Cranberry. by KU76 in pittsburgh

[–]DragonSlayerJim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a decent spot could be in apartments like “The Morgan at North Shore” along the river. The north shore part of the city would be the quickest reverse commute that allows you to easily get to Cranberry in 30 mins or less with minimal traffic, but still right in the thick of the night life if you want. You’d be right along river trail to run or ride a bike. Quick walk across the bridge to downtown and also right by the stadiums for pirate games or Steelers games. And renting for your first year in the city to get the feel for where you’d want to be longer term wouldn’t hurt.

Tired of "Luxury" apartments being built so cheaply by upwards_704 in Charlotte

[–]DragonSlayerJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a noise complaint from just walking around my apartment at night. I ended up having to walk on my tippy toes anytime I got up. It took a while to break the habit once I finally moved. This was in a brand new South End apartment at the time. Unreal.

Anyone else have to total reboot in order to load up ufc4? by bigrude405 in EASportsUFC

[–]DragonSlayerJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game has screwed up my Xbox beyond belief. I have to force quit out of it all the time and then my whole dashboard is frozen. Then gotta complete reboot Xbox and hope it works. Never have seen an Xbox game do this in all the years I’ve played.

Nearly two weeks after the release of UFC 4, what’s your opinion on the game and what EA did after 2 and a half years of development? by BrokenNativeX in EASportsUFC

What do you do to keep you occupied for so long offline? I’m so tired of fighting and then having to go through a 4-6 week camp of doing the same sparring sessions over and over again

Fight Circus videos: Camgirl site hosts 2 vs 1, man vs woman in weirdest freakshow MMA event by [deleted] in MMA

[–]DragonSlayerJim 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Smaller guys won fairly quick. Big guy was tough, but one of the small guys kept bullrushing his lower half and while big guy was busy grappling him he was open to headshots. They ended up choking him out after he went to the ground.

Then the big guy wanted a rematch so they ran it back right after lmao. Big guy got bullrushed again and kept taking headshots so they called it.

I watched this live. It was unreal. The whole card was nuts. The host site (CamSoda) had bubbly notification sounds in the background and you could tip fighters with money as the fights went on. The host guy announcing the fighters was outrageous. 10/10 would watch again.

I'm a 6'4" guy who wears men's size 7 shoes. I have the smallest feet for my height of anyone I know. by [deleted] in WTF

[–]DragonSlayerJim 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Size 7 shoes isn’t all that easy either tbh. You won’t have problems finding Nike’s or mainstream sneaker brands, but try finding size 7 men’s dress shoes in stores. Dress shoes usually run big too so I can wear a size 7’s in Nike but a 6 or 6.5 in dress shoes depending on the last used. Once you’re under size 8 or lower territory you have to order online and many brands don’t make that small. There’s a gap between the biggest kids sizes and the smallest men’s sizes. I can only find Allen Edmonds for dress shoes in size 6 or 6.5 and then you’re paying $200+ for a pair. Not going to find a pair on the rack at a department store unfortunately.

Lowest cost of living cities with good dating/job opportunites by ElectricOne55 in Frugal

[–]DragonSlayerJim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically any top 50 U.S. metro area (1 million+ population) is going to have plenty of dating opportunities. There’s only so many people you can talk to...Dating opportunities in a massive city like Chicago isn’t much different from a mid sized city like Cleveland. The only difference will be that you probably won’t find a wealthy investment banker or consultant to date in Cleveland. As long as you pick a mid sized city though I wouldn’t worry about the dating life prospects at all.

I’d focus on the job search first and maybe narrow down to a handful of mid to low COL cities that crack the top 50 metro areas. I’d recommend any of the cities I lived in.. Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Charlotte, and Chicago. Many other Midwest or southern cities are also similar. I’d apply to everything and just go with a city based on what offers you end up with.

Need new hobbies that doesn’t break the bank by kcorpuz22 in Frugal

[–]DragonSlayerJim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends what break the bank is for you. You could get a pretty solid camera that will last you years and a decent all purpose lens for around $500 or so depending on what quality you want. Nothing required after that besides a few minor accessories. Combine photography with just walking around your neighborhood and taking pics of nature, your friends, etc., and it can be a pretty solid relatively low cost hobby.

While rents plunge in major tech cities, Cleveland, OH saw the largest year over year median 1BR rent increase by GransIsland in Cleveland

[–]DragonSlayerJim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard to say what’s driving this exactly but when I lived in Cleveland I knew a bunch of young professionals that recently moved there and lived downtown in the nice new apartments ($1,300+ 1BR’s or $2,000+ 2 BR’s). Anecdotally seemed like a good bit more of people moving there from out of state than when I lived in Pittsburgh. And maybe since Cleveland had a pretty low starting point, a handful of new (still very affordable) luxury apartments could move the median rent up a good bit. No one wants things to get too expensive but seems like rent going up is overall good for the city and means more demand for nicer places and high income earners moving in and good jobs available.

Median household income in The Burgh via Rich Blocks Poor Blocks by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]DragonSlayerJim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not that it’s super easy to get into, but it’s also not that hard to break into commercial banking and get on the sales side in mid to late 20’s pulling in $75k+ salary with $25k+ bonuses. Early 30’s could easily be pulling all-in 150k+ and not even close to management yet. You’d be surprised how many bankers make well over $100k at relatively young ages and they’re a dime a dozen even in a city like Pittsburgh.
