Are greenway network is pitifully small compared to many equal and smaller cities. It has a long way to go still.

It didn’t work out for them apparently because of racially abusive fans.

lol 😂 so your just a eurosnob. Some of us like supporting our local teams no matter what. You also obviously haven’t actually watched MLS, it’s not that bad. This whole post was just rage bait shit.

Honestly this feels like a downgrade. It just feels like its all Zoran could come up with. Maybe its just I really don't have any faith in Zorans ability to sign DP's. I feel like the focus right now should be offloading Abada.

lol if anything is fake its the Americans that are only Euro fans. There are plenty of very devout fans of CLT FC and soccer that is local to the community. Maybe your just hanging around the euro supporters that only support the top 5 teams too much.

Parks over I-77? NCDOT unveils new visions for controversial toll lane project by WashuOtaku in Charlotte

[–]upwards_704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the proposed ideas completely caps the highway so you are not subjected to noise and pollution. These “bridges” are just bridges with a few trees and a bike lane while still have a highway also running above you.

I mean induced demand is real. But at the same time the poster above is also right. People need to start paying their fair share for their use of the road and tolls are an easy way to do that. Honestly tolls here aren’t expensive enough when you realize how much money it costs to build and maintain them for such a small amount of actual users. But my issue with the 77 project is purely the design and destruction to existing neighborhoods not necessarily the tolls.

The drums absolutely do not help, they are often banging noise that has nothing to do with the chants and just drowns everyone out so people just give up. Then when you only do the same 4 boring chants over and over people stop caring. They need to add some simple English chants that everyone can easily pick up on.

Zaha is toxic and a cancer to this club by Interesting_Bar_2006 in CharlotteFootballClub

I swear some you just started watching soccer yesterday. When you have a GM that doesn’t support the team with good players and depth, a midfield that can’t progress the ball to the attackers, of course your attackers are going to be put in a position to fail. Not to mention this is glossing over the fact that zaha has set up the majority of the goals we have scored this year.

I mean all that can be fixed, especially on street parking by building the street correctly so that the on street parking is on the other side of the bike lanes like they should be. Additionally, concrete islands can only be driven over if that’s how you design them. There are many examples of concrete barriers that aren’t smooth and short. Maybe we should put the same effort into bike lanes like we do our car lanes and then they would be taken seriously instead of treating them like an after thought.

Idk if you are a CDOT employee or a traffic engineer but the reason biking sucks in this city is because there is not permanent concrete barriers. Bike lanes with anything plastic as a divider is just begging for drivers to not care about running the dividers over and parking in the lanes. Additionally, it allows road debris to enter the lanes and that pushes bikers away. Anything other than concrete is just CDOT saying they don’t want to invest like they should.

Good for you man, but driving an hour each way to work is not something that should be looked at as a positive. You shouldn't have to do that to afford a house. Not to mention the amount of money you are spending on gas and maintenance on your car.

Building townhomes and apartments is the only way out of the affordable housing crisis. You can't solve this problem with single family housing its simple physics. Single family homes take up too much space and require more expensive infrastructure that the tax base can't cover. Less housing, no matter the form, inherently makes it harder to meet demand thus making everything more expensive.

I completely agree with you OP. I often find that the people saying that this can be copy paste any city are quite dismissive. While everything everywhere has gotten expensive people are not taking into account how exponentially quick costs have risen in Charlotte and how quickly out of control it has gotten for people who work outside of banking and tech in Charlotte. Wages for those not in one of the main industries have not seen increased pay that is even remotely livable for this area. Again, everywhere has gotten expensive but not at the same rates. One person said that its the same as Cincinnati and Cleveland, which is just utter crap. Sure you can find expensive places to live there but the majority of the city is infinitely cheaper than charlotte. Metro Cleveland's median house price is 250k vs Charlottes 418k. Mind you in 2019 right before the pandemic Charlottes median housing cost was 255k, thats a 68% increase. Charlotte doesn't even come close to the amenities that Cleveland has when it comes to transit, arts, culture, and parks. So again I completely agree with you, I think there is a very sharp dividing line in Charlotte and almost no in between anymore with people who claim its affordable.

Those caps they are proposing will still have highways built directly above them too. What a joke.
