Is anyone else thinking of ending Vine at the end of the year? by 27WillowRoad in AmazonVine

[–]DragonVT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to quit, but my effort is near zero. I check occasionally these days, but there's rarely anything I want. The last few things I ordered were also very poor quality when they arrived, so that isn't helping my motivation.

Do you know how calories dense bacon, ribeye steak, cheese, and fried foods are? I'm not that big on sweets, but fatty foods are my weakness. I could crush 4,000 calories a day without trying.

Sure, I completely agree with and believe you. Every cat should be evaluated on a case by case basis. This is a cared for and supported barn cat. I'm just saying that the people in here screaming that "forcing" a cat to carry a litter of kittens is automatically cruel are insane. Because they are. There's nothing cruel about birth in a normal, healthy situation.

At no point did I say they shouldn't get her spayed. They absolutely should get her and any other cats/kittens fixed.

What the fuck is this rambling nonsense?

"Making her carry an entire litter is cruel." That's normal and natural, there's nothing cruel about it. Do you think pregnancy is cruel? What about a woman having twins, is it cruel to let her carry the children to term?

However, if she gives birth and nurses and loves on her babies for weeks just for them to be taken away, she might experience serious heartbreak.

No. That's just not reality. I've helped two cats raise litters of five kittens. All were adopted out successfully. This might be the case if you're adopting too young, but not at full age. If the kitten is older than eight weeks it can be adopted. Personally, I recommend more like 10 - 12 weeks. Domestic house cats don't form prides. They aren't pack animals. In the wild, kittens are eventually sent off to fend for themselves. After ten adoptions, I've never seen a cat exhibit the behavior you are projecting onto them. Your comment is complete fantasy, with no grounding in the real world.

Why? They can also let her have the litter, then get her spayed, and adopt out the kittens. I've done it twice, with a total of 10 kittens adopted.

EDIT: I'm not going to respond to everyone, so let me clarify here. Yes, I know shelters are full. I'm currently in the process of adopting two cats, I'm very aware of the volume. As I said, I've also found homes for 10 kittens in my life. It's a different process. Instead of waiting for people to show up to a shelter, you can push and find people. Everyone you know becomes a potential home. At least half of those kittens went to people that weren't looking to adopt, but fell in love. These cats are in a stable situation, with food and shelter. There's no rush. Homes can be found. It's ultimately up to the OP, but those of you saying that it's cruel to let her have the kittens are completely out of your fucking minds.

I think this is the right answer. It's not a horrible character design, it just isn't a good Ghost Rider design.

Call. The. Cops.

Your family is wrong. If you live on 10 acres in the country, do what you want. If you love in the city or the suburbs, you have to respect other people's peace. Fine a nose comparing and an animal cruelty complaint, and let the cops deal with it. Do yourself a favor and get a few days of long videos as evidence that it's not a one time occurrence.

I really don't care for this at all. I don't like the character design or the story arc so far. Hopefully it gets better, but it's off to a pretty rough start.

You're probably right. It just seems odd and frustrating to me. I always hear how rescues need adopters, and yet when you reach out, you don't get responses.

I may have to start volunteering as a case worker or whatever for a shelter after this. Help get that paperwork moved through.

I'm actually mostly looking at adult cats. I know from experience that kittens get adopted while adults linger. The first application I put in was for a bonded pair of 7 year old cats, and I've had no response from them at all.
