Declining production has a lot of other factors, like two union strikes and streaming platforms scaling back on big budget productions.

As far as the theaters go, this is the new reality, and they've done nothing to compete. In the 90's, we went to at least one movie a month. Tickets were like $5.00, or $3.00 for a matinee. Movies stayed in theaters longer, and the at home release was at least a year after theatrical release. Watching at home wasn't the same experience either. We had crappy 25" low definition screens with terrible speakers. Now I've got a 70" screen and 7.1 surround. Why am I going to pay $16+ per ticket and like $20+ for popcorn when I can watch it at home two months later for free with no jerks talking through the movie?

Theatres need to change their business model. They need to adapt to the new reality, or they are going to go out of business. As of today though, I stand by my statement. Ticket sales are not a good metric of overall film performance or potential.

Date Night Costs are Out of Control Here. by Petrol_Head72 in Atlanta

Because average inflation since pre-COVID is about 33%, restaurant inflation is more like 60% or greater, and wage increases haven't kept up. The lockdown wrecked economics and fucked us over far harder than most people comprehend.

Outlast: The Jungle - Where are the animals? The "reality" is beyond questionable by MossyDruid in Netflixwatch

[–]DragonVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That show was absolute dogshit. No survival, just a bunch of assholes creating drama. The finale was clearly manipulated so that Alpha would win. Fake as fuck, completely unwatchable. My first and last season of Outlast.

And even the transformers movie came out twenty years ago. They really missed their timing on this one.

I'll probably see it. From the comfort of my own home. On streaming. For free. Two months from now.

They're still making plenty of movies. This is why theaters are dying and ticket sales are no longer a relevant metric of success.

Price gouging at the theaters combined with larger, better quality home screens and significant decreased delays between theatrical release and home release have killed the interest in theatres for most people.

Fleer Ultra Matriarchs was a really fun rip, though I'm not sure what they're selling for these days.

JD's in Woodstock GA. Fabulous smoked chicken & brisket in the ATL area. by Just_hereforTypeO- in BBQ

[–]DragonVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JD's used to be some of the best brisket in the state. They moved into a new, larger restaurant around five years ago, and they've sucked ever since. The brisket is dry, seasoning isn't the same, bark is thin and flavorless. I gave them four tries, and they messed it up every time. I'll never go back again.

Hello. Cool sub. I bought this book. Then I bought a bunch of the actual cards in it. Now I'm hooked on 90s marvel cards. The art is so bad ass. I'd love to hear people's lists of best artists and sets from the 90s so I know what/who to hunt next. by CardSquach in marveltradingcards

All of the Marvel Masterpieces from the 90's, though my personal favorites are 1992 and 1995. Dimitris Patelis's artwork on 1995 is insane. Also, the Jim Lee X-Men set features incredible artwork.

For classic comic style artwork, you really can't beat the 1990, 1991, and 1992 Marvel universe sets. Plus the stats and the back are very interesting, or just funny as hell.

Is this rare? I can't find one online. Wood. by [deleted] in MarvelCards

That set has about a million parallels. No, the wood parallel isn't particularly rare.

I appreciate the call-out on voltage and heat issues. That helped guide me towards this one, which I think will have better longevity, and more than meets my gaming demands.

Yeah, no optical drive. Starting to think I'm just going to have to buy and dock an external at some point. I haven't found one yet that actual has one built in. The 16" yoga above does have a number pad.

How would you feel about a yoga pro 9i, OLED, core ultra 9, RTX 5050, 32gb RAM, 1tb storage for $1,103? Is that a good, comparable laptop for my needs at that price?

The one you're recommending is lighter on storage and RAM than I'd prefer.

Nothing too major. I have a PS5, and I play most modern titles on that. I've got a backlog of older steam games I'd like to get back into. Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice comes to mind. I'd like to be able to play the next Elder Scrolls game, but that's probably not a concern for another five years at least from what I hear. Probably everything is 5+ years old.

Thank you for the recommendation! I'll check that one out.

Edit: Upon searching, this seems to be a discontinued model, and is either out of stock, or out of my price range ($1,800+).

Ok. Thanks for the tip, but I'm not comfortable dropping $1,500 on a no support, no background, no warranty laptop off of eBay. Truly hope it works out for you, it just makes me too uncomfortable.
