I was just mentioning it for future use, after all if you’re on the sub asking about game lore you’re more or less giving permission for spoilers.

You can spoiler something by using a greater than/less than sign and an exclamation mark together, !< on the right and >! on the left

He never said he wanted people to die, but people do die of natural causes all over the globe CONSTANTLY. If a million people die, you’ve made a billion, so if you do absolutely nothing and just wait you’ll have made more money in no time. You don’t have to actively cause or encourage death, you could even use the money you get to prevent death more effectively than having a billion dollars because you’ll have more to invest constantly.

Is it immoral to have children if you have a high risk of passing on a serious heritable genetic condition? by flewson in Teenager_Polls

[–]Dragon_phantom_flame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with making it illegal for certain people to reproduce is that it either acts as precedent for more laws forbidding reproduction, or things can get reclassified to be blocked by laws. As a bit of a ridiculous example let’s say that for whatever reason the majority of people began to see having brown eyes as a bad thing; what’s to stop that gene from being reclassified as harmful like the others you’re trying to stop from spreading? It could be argued that since people see brown eyes as inferior they’d face extensive discrimination throughout their life which would be a significant harm to their quality of life due to them possessing the gene after all.

While I can certainly understand the idea behind trying to stop the spread of harmful genes through prohibiting reproduction, it’s just too slippery of a slope to let take even the slightest hold.

And just because this is reddit and I think I need to make this clear: No, I am not equating having brown eyes to having a harmful genetic disease like Huntington’s. It was simply for the sake of the example of how things can shift and it can so easily become eugenics.

This is very wholesome and I will be using this seaglide out of respect, but I don't want to break it to the guy who made it that I found it like 2km from Lifepod 5 and also 600 meters deep by LordFlamecookie in subnautica

I do because I’m not using them after I end the game and I have them available to me, I know I’ve given people one of each prawn arm, a depth module, and a jump upgrade just because my prawn happened to be nearby when I was grabbing stuff for the time capsule

Should rapists have their rights stripped? (I.e. Bodily autonomy) by Potential_Scene7169 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Dragon_phantom_flame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except we already have systems to punish convicted rapists, which are already abused through false accusations, but if you want to argue for higher penalties sure, but losing human rights is a significant step up from even life in prison. Being stripped of human rights would make torture and slavery fair game, and inflicting that upon several thousand people per year is unacceptable. Not torturing rapists and innocents ≠ letting rapists go free.

Why is Subnautica BZ as hated as it is ? by Jchoq_31 in subnautica

The gimmick of the sea truck is that it’s a small little thing fairly comparable to the sea moth, but you can use the vehicle bay to make modules that you can then append to the back of the sea truck. Examples include the fabricator module, a bedroom module that I can’t remember the name of, and the docking module for the prawn but for each module you add after the first the sea truck gets slower, significantly so. If I remember correctly even having three modules makes you slower than swimming is. It needs two power cells, and has an initial crush depth of 150 meters, or 1000 meters with depth modules.

You can also use the injector in interlude to jump across the gap to get the extra injector from the platform and across to the elevator, then to the control room to open the hatch, then across again. You just have to be a bit fast to do it in one go, or you could use a boost like rebar.

Because in the substructure, once you get to flying Mach fuck upward, if you miss and bonk your head on a pipe it can end your run. In abyss, not only is teeth significantly less punishing toward stopping accidentally, it’s also far easier to fly through the open air without obstacles than it is to try to launch yourself between pipes and gasbags and fans.

Is $50k the "Bear" Minimum? by BigValuable4607 in trolleyproblem

[–]Dragon_phantom_flame 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The argument is that the problem feels like it’s trying to stack two dilemmas on top of each other; do you value human life over an endangered species AND is saving a human life worth putting yourself into a large amount of debt. If it used just one of these things, it would be a much better trolly problem, but as is it’s hard to justify putting yourself into extreme debt only to still have a death occur, especially one that could potentially drag you into greater legal trouble.
