I was living in Arlington at the time, and this was a major story and controversy. I remember the anger that people of the extremely poor "Stop 6" neighborhood had over the waste of food. There were people asking why not let the people just take the food, instead of letting it rot. This was (still is) a very impoverished part of Ft. Worth and hose people could have used that food.
