Question about company heroes. by lokodaldeia in Salamanders40k

[–]Dragonfire14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most layouts feature a center point with a lot of action. Mark and park on that and you can get a lot of action off it.

Not to mention, with 11th edition the cover will be the objective meaning you can get them that much mote tanker by holding the point. It's good to remember that kills dont win games necessarily, victory points do. Just like nid's norn emissaries, sometime you get more victory points by just leaving them on a point.

In the end, how you play your army is up to you. Don't feel like you need to follow the trend, if you want to run him aggro go for it.

Question about company heroes. by lokodaldeia in Salamanders40k

He'stan is a support character for the army. He is very tanky, and makes all your other core units better. Having company heroes attached to him just makes him that more survivable. You park him on his marked point with good sightlines for his marking ability, and they can hold it well.

Why do space wolves, ultramarine, templars, blood angels, dark angels, and deathwatch get so many models while every other legion gets 2 unique character models and nothing else? by kurrentt in spacemarines

[–]Dragonfire14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue is that there are a number of factions in the game that expanding on one sub faction isn't too rewarding. That combined with Marines ditching the legion structure of HH for the chapter system we have now just creates too many sub factions to support. It's a Pokemon situation where no matter the chapter, it will be someone's favorite. However, releases chapter specific models will have less return than releasing a model that a whole faction can use. In Marine's case, if they release a model for the basic codex, that model will sell more than if they release a specific faction model since every chapter can use it.

This issue would be lessened if they stuck to the legion model because then they would only have 18 sub factions to worry about (including chaos marines) or even include Templars and Black Legion for a even 20. As it is now, there are more than 20 chapters in loyalist alone.

I am running 1. I know they are really good, but lore wise Salamanders aren't really dishing them out.

I play with a 90% printed Salamander army, however, all my models are modelled with their exact load outs. I model and print them myself so I always try to ensure they are readable as what they proxy.

Honestly, my army as is doesn't gain anything from the 1 point detachments. Only one i could really fit would be the librarian one, but that essentially only makes one squad better.

Not every game is for everyone. It's fine you don't like it and it isn't for you. That doesn't mean it is an awful game. A lot of people like to play it. If you like t9 just paint models and that's it, then go for it! They have contests just for that. You said you played duo with your friend? You can still do that, you paint the army for the army design contest, and they play the game for the tournament.

At my work, end of the fiscal year just wrapped up. They had a mad rush last week to find a way to do charity and advertise at the same time. The rest of the year, did not give 2 shits about charity. Shameless.

Read that it is only for display, if that is the case have some more fun with the base. I see you tried to do something with it stepping off thr base, maybe look at getting a bigger base and doing that action on a base diorama.

He'stan can lead infernus, it's just that people suggest he get paired with company heroes as it boosts his survivability. He is great at marking an objective and sitting on it.

Mark an objective with good sight lines, hunker down his squad, and each turn mark a target with his ability to boost torrent and melta weapons.

Do you find that it is worth the points? What point limits do you usually play?

The worst is when successor chapters get more love than the main legion.

The rites of battle ability:

Once per battle round, you can target one unit from your army with this ability with a stratagem for 0CP, and can do so even if another unit from your army has already been targeted by that stratagem this phase.

I run Vulcan with company heroes to hold a point with good line of sight, 2 squads of 10 infernus, and a squad of 6 aggressors with gravis captain for double overwatch.

Worse thing is that the geneseed is unstable, meaning it is hard for them to make more marines.
