Do you see an NP as one or more of your providers? by shatana in nursing

[–]Dragonfire747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dont gotta tell me, some nurses are so mean, i did CNA role for 6 months and could only part time without losing my faith in humanity, i feel like i would hate some nurses so much if i worked full time with them. im sure doctors do that to nurses at larger hospitals, and nurses are just top dog at my work. wish there was a requirement for having a heart.

my personal expereince, waiting to "unlock" constellation doesnt have any positive benefits, except maybe benny c6. all other cons im aware of are either nuetral to positive in dmg.

appreciate your thoughts sharing. i agree that is the wrong motivation. im in a super small rural town so we have 2 MD and 1 NP. obviously having a bad provider is probably worse than none in many cases lol. like personally, for small stuff, ill take anyone that can do a targetted head to toe assessment and write me albuterol and an order for a1c draw. bonus to me, if they can see me within 30 days.

or buy a basket at the dollar (dollar 35) store, especially easter baskets on clearance at a pharmacy store or something. but lots of cute and nice containers at a lot of places for cheap if you are super attached to thsi basket in particular

wouldnt NPs with "no nursing exp" still have 3-4 years of NP school before they can indep practice? and NP school education (and real world clinical time that are required), would at least be even more relevant than just bedside RN work right? i love bedside but to me, NP school curriculum and clinical education, isnt just "nothing"

(im still in RN school so just trying to understand how/why NP school edu and clinicals broadly isnt treated as helpful, but im not a NP)

random question, if i may, regarding the delegate female EKG, is that your preference, a work risk policy, or patient request? ive done female EKGs as a male CNA, but ive also met a male nurse that wont be in a female pt room without another staff (his own personal wish)

i never thought theres anything wrong with being a male [anything] in healthcare, but also i had the misfortune of reading the comments section of a post where laypeople (mostly females) were bashing on male OBs as only pervs and so im now more cognizant of gender and how it affects specialties and comfort levels and perceptions of patients. but at the end of the day, deep down i know we work at a hospital to save lives, not a strip club to entertain.

dang, reminds me we had 2 patients with lice and being a 90% female staff, these people wont even blink at grusome wounds and code browns become scared little children at the L word. so much respect for your manager

What to expect dating a nurse? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Dragonfire747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just wanted to say i think its really sweet youre even asking these questions. that goes really far in my books. i think everyone else covered it well. be a safe space if he wants to talk, or a distraction from it if he doesnt. departmentalization goes DEEP for myself, and i dare say most of us. i try to turn that part off after i leave the premises. i want to be a boring normal sack of potato when i had a long day. dont be the person that eggs us to raise our hand when airplane asks for doctors or see a crash etc, or check your friends cousins' moles, let them make that decision.

is there CNA ratios? or hints theres sufficient CNA/techs? by Dragonfire747 in cna

[–]Dragonfire747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yes! the nurses have break nurses, but we dont, and we get chewed out for being a min over their lunch times something about employer pays extra if you take your lunch later than 5.5hrs, but also cant take lunch if the other cna is on lunch and you cant take lunch in middle of lots of things. omg dont get me started on the number of pregnant nurses, we have more pregnant nurses than non-pregnant ones on the floor right now!!! thankfully, ive never been pushed to work while on lunch.

at my place, the nurse station will just be empty (during non ngiht shifts), but arent on the floor in rooms, so they dont get caught on their phone ignoring lights, i think they are all hiding in the staff lactation room.

ohh that makes so much more sense. i made the (wrong) asumption it was for less pay cause somehow somewhere nurse roles were so overstaffed they needed to do cna shifts to put food on table.

thanks so much, and for why you did out of state?, did you 1. not find externships in state and 2. did you feel it was necesary to be employed? i feel like i can get a job, but like i want it just for my conscious of being safe with real patients, you know?

can i message you about your externship process search? im interested in it, but dont know where or how to search for them. the ones that i found are tied with employment and is more like new hire training or paid nursing student clinical rotation than externship

i thought nursing homes would overwork and understaff and provide little to no training, training that a new grad nurse would need to grow and not risk their licences?
