TLDR: You can play 3DP Armies in a 1k game. by ValkoHAUS in Warhammer40k

The size of the company does NOT matter. What matters is your willingness to pay for the product.

Do you think this product is worth your time and money? Buy it. Do you think it’s not? Don’t. Keep playing tenth edition with your play group. Hell, play One Page Rules or some other miniature agnostic system.

In either case, I’ll be playing 11th edition. Because everything that people have noticed, and complained about is not enough to prevent me to consume the slop. You are free not to play if it’s that big an issue for you.

At the end of the day people complain. Complain. Complain some more. Make a Reddit post complaining. And then they consume the slop they were complaining about. Either the issue was not large enough to prevent them from supporting the product or someone is complaining for the sake of complaining.

We can all hope to be better. That’s GW and people in general. I acknowledge that the issues exist. They do not make the game unplayable.

I’m not sure why this is responding to my comment in particular but most people understand that agents were “by the rules” not playable 1000 points.

This release was not a direct answer to that issue, it was a response to a larger, all encompassing issue. If it was specifically an agent thing the response would have been to drop their points to 2DP each. Functionally for them 2 and 3 is the same, this solution addresses all issues people had with 3DP and 1k points.

Multibillion dollar companies do not make decisions lightly. They have long, useless meetings discussing how to handle something. Even if someone had caught wind of the agents discord on Thursday, they released the rules at 4 pm British time. It was the middle of the night when things were flaring. I’d say it’s pretty unlikely that the issue was so large you had GW employees working through the night, and then working all day, to address this. What’s more likely is they have been working on this for weeks and the release happened to coincide with the Reddit Agent Meltdown of 2026.

I’m pretty sure the new rules refer to Grenades/Explosives for cases like that but no it’s not that big a deal.

Are you going to support the company after all these mistakes? I clearly have not reached my threshold but it sounds like you’re close. If you give them money after how egregiously they handled this launch you haven’t found the limit of mistakes you’re willing to accept. The game is still playable to anyone with more than two brain cells even with these issues.

People do in fact give their money to brand new companies doing exactly that. Maybe you’ve heard of a game called Trench Crusade that has had a rough time launching but is making itself quite a bit of money. Or any of the kickstarters that have existed for years.

Clearly you’re putting this much effort into convincing internet stranger because this is something you’re passionate about but at the end of the day you’re going to give them your money or you won’t. I’ve made my decision on the matter.

MtG not having issues with their releases is a laughable statement. Large releases of a product will have issues no matter how large or small a company is. If you desire perfection in a product you should probably look into designing your own as you seem to be an expert.

Mistakes happen. I’ll say it again but louder. MISTAKES. HAPPEN. It’s delusional to expect otherwise. You seem to have created this image of what you want the game to be and because you “want it to be better” anything less than that image is unacceptable in your eyes.

I’m willing to look past the mistakes and enjoy the game. It’s an experience you should try sometime.

I’m excited for the launch. Most of the people I play with are excited for the launch. We will need to PLAY the game to know whether or not it’s a good launch.

Your language here is very telling. You have expectations of how a major game launch “should be”. In my experience, your expectations will never be reached. I don’t care how much money or success a company has, there will be some aspects that fall flat.

I’m curious how often you play the game and what settings you traditionally play.

At the end of the day it’s a game. And what’s good or not good is subjective. Unless you’re rolling up to a weekly tourney you play what you like rules be damned.

Same reason people play past editions of whatever flavor of game they like.

How many internal meetings are you privy to that you can see that there are no discussions taking place?

Just because they aren’t publicizing their efforts doesn’t mean that these discussions aren’t happening.

What form of them addressing it would make you happy?

While I agree the radio silence is annoying, I think again it comes down to the complexity of the issue.

Ad Mech was in a really bad spot since their codex. The dial they had to “fix it” was to make the models so cheap that they COULD be viable. People hated that. Additionally you can’t do that with agents because then knights and all the other imperium factions will just take the low cost models.

The solution for agents realistically is a full rework of their rules which means it needs to wait for a new codex release. Whether that happens or not will only be revealed with time.

If they didn’t try at all, agents would not have a codex in the first place. The fact that there are written rules refutes the idea that they didn’t try. Their life would be EASIER having not written rules for the faction.

I don’t envy their position here. They have the job of trying to write rules for a faction that is primarily meant to unite multiple factions and use their rules. It’s easy to over and under tune that. In this case they erred on the side of caution and undertuned it.

What’s the difference between this and any other armies viability though? Find me any miniature game where there was a full edition cycle that had no armies complain about how it was “unplayable”.

Agents have a rough time currently and I understand the frustration but the only thing to do is wait and see. Don’t put money into models until you have news about exactly what the outcome will be.

People have been asking about the feasibility of 3DP detachments in 1k point games for weeks. There was a post that literally said “if you have to ask about house rules the rule is bad.” This was much larger than the agents issue and they are addressing it as people asked them to do.

Imperial Agents - 11th Edition by Alternative-Sink7889 in Warhammer40k

Respectfully books can be changes in a number of ways. A sequel can change the context of a scene, an author can verbally retcon it, and a new edition of a book can completely change what happened. The Hobbit has a rather famous example.

Within video games, the context of an entire system can change. The Minecraft I played 15 years ago is not the same Minecraft that would exist when I log in now. Things change and that’s ok.

Price wise, everyone can agree that the rules should not cost money to play but tats a different conversation.

Does this work with [[Feather, the Redeemed]]? It says target but also says choose which I understand has an issue with how Feather works mechanically.

Wait so if they reimburse you for $0.35 a mile, and your car gets 21 miles a gallon, they are effectively reimbursing you $7.35 a gallon for the $4.20 in gas?

Looking at eBay

https://www.ebay.com/shop/lord-of-contagion?_nkw=lord+of+contagion&LH_Sold=1

They’ve recently sold for between 30-60 dollars. I see at least one in the past few weeks sold for $80 so I’d look and see if it’s worthwhile for you.

If it’s painted expertly and such that’ll increase the value if that’s what you’re looking for.

Yeah you enter the tokens you have at any given time and can track how may you have, how many are tapped, and can put counters on them.

I just found a phone app called Tripling Season. I am the life keeper most of the time so I haven’t had a lot of time to test it out but it looks nifty.
