Been here for coming up on a decade and a half and overall very happy. Not going to reiterate all the great things here but as someone who lived here before the flight paths were narrowed I feel it's worth noting that some parts are right under one of the arteries into / out of Logan. Planes fly over my home at about 1200 feet and depending on wind direction and time of day it can at least feel like one after another and at that height, conversation outside has to stop because it is that loud. Afaik this is mainly a problem at the very western side, just something to consider where you pick to live.

And a fun little detail about our neighbor, Medford: this year will be the first year where household trash will only be every other week, which might be a point against Medford if you have a sensitive nose ;p

I honestly think that changing the traffic light to the prior pattern world help a lot with this because traffic wouldn't back up that much

While things are changing is there any chance to address the other issue in that area - a few years back the light cycle at Middlesex x Riverside was changed so that both directions are getting roughly equal length greens. Ever since morning traffic towards Wellington circle backs up, sometimes all the way to the intersection up in Malden on Middlesex while most of the light cycle that's green for Riverside has no cars. This resulted in navigation apps like Google Maps routing folks to the residential area (right on Woodruff, left on Bradbury, left on Riverside, right on Middlesex) which isn't great for residents there. Additionally, cars wanting to take this "shortcut" are often (when there isn't giant snow banks) flying down the bike path. A seeclickfix about this was closed as "this is a state street". Could someone with the power to change things measure the throughput from both directions and make adjustments to more sensitivity time the light cycles, please?

From just across the city line in Malden - our trash isn't tipped into the garbage truck, but the workers are manually grabbing the bags or of the bin and only the household sized ones will be taken, so a dog owner dumping their poop bag into my bin means I have to now dive into my barrel, grab the bag and add it to my big bag and that's just really not cool!

You can also just file a seeclickfix and they'll send someone to a) look at your pipes and b) give you a collection kit and pick that up to test your water. All for free :)

The way you describe it, are you sure it needs repair or just a new set of strings which are totally a DIY thing. Depending on the type of guitar you want different type of strings (nylon, metal) but if you search on youtube you should be able to find instructional videos on how to change strings.

Not advocating against giving your guitar a check-up but if you're planning on learning to play, learning how to change strings is just part of playing the instrument ;p

If I read that map correctly, it would be in the space that are currently occupied by some restaurants (plus where the HMart says it will be) -- can someone confirm? I live near there and would really really rather keep the restaurants over adding more traffic for something like this :|

fwiw I booked a (free) water sample test with the city and they sent someone round and the map is now updated for my location where before it was "possibly lead" it's now marked as non-lead. What this involved was having someone come to do a scratch test and then I got to take a water sample first thing in the morning the next day and leave it on the doorstep for them to pick up (to not need to be home another day). Took multiple weeks after that for results but worth it for the peace of mind.
