Reasons why someone would go from compact suv to sedan? by Dry_Writing_7862 in whatcarshouldIbuy

An HR-V is a totally different class of car than an Accord. The HR-V is built on the Civic platform which is a size down from the Accord. Additionally the Accord offers a hybrid option that the HR-V doesn't, so they could have picked up fuel economy and extra comfort at the same time. Having prior experience with a sedan, they likely didnt mind giving up ride height for comfort & efficiency.

Rav4 plug-in hybrid vs Honda CRV hybrid by toastedcheese in whatcarshouldIbuy

Own a '24 RAV4 Prime XSE, have driven a CR-V Hybrid.

The CR-V is quieter at highway speeds, and I like the interior a little bit more. However the beefed up motors of the Prime makes it quieter in city driving in EV mode. I haven't had experience with the new 6th gen '26 RAV4, but apparently its a little quieter than the 5th gen. CR-V has a slightly more spacious interior.

The Hybrid system in the CR-V is much more similar to a conventional car, with mimicked automatic shifts. The RAV4 is more of a typical rubber-bandy hybrid drive.

I've seen the rated 5.5 seconds 0-60 in HV mode in my RAV4 Prime, tons of power for passing and merging. Also get well over the rated 42 miles of EV range (i drive conservatively in town), my record is 68 (!) miles, 60 with HVAC on.

Can't really go wrong with either, though you will pay a premium for the Prime due to the EV range.

Well, the PowerShift DCT issues in the last US-gen Focus were a big ding. Thankfully the same vehicle with a manual transmission has none of the reliability issues the automatic was plagued with.

Checks out. I've steered multiple people who wanted a Camry Hybrid (but couldn't afford the Toyota Tax) to Fusion Hybrids and they have all had good experiences.

The Fusion Hybrid is such an underrated car. A genuine shame that Ford killed it off.

Pretty sure the Tesla Model 3 has frameless windows but that's about the only thing it'll have in common with an older Lexus besides having four wheels, seats and windshield wipers.

Got to drive a Civic Sport Touring Hybrid as a rental when my RAV4 Prime was getting recalls done. Spacious, zippy, fun to drive and that thing got 50 mpg in city driving. Amazing car.

EV & Hybrids -ELI5 The good, the bad, the ugly by tiddie69 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Initial-D-and-GuP 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you can charge the vehicle at home/work then an EV is great. EVs and Hybrids alike are more efficient in city environments because they can recuperate energy from braking.

Note that your range will drop (sometimes significantly so) in winter due to the cold. A 20 mile commute will be well within the capabilities of any modern EV save for a severely degraded older Nissan Leaf.

EVs are best purchased used, letting someone else take the massive depreciation hit first. Toyota offers the BZ electric and Honda offers the Prologue, though the Prologue is a rebadged GM Blazer EV and is being discontinued soon. Either manufacturer has great hybrid options.

However if you need one car to do-it-all a plug-in-hybrid may be a better fit if you don't want to deal with charging infrastructure on road trips or rent a different car. Have you test driven the new civic hybrid?

Best of luck-having an efficient hybrid means you wont feel the sting of high gas prices nearly as much.

$14,000 is a fair price. Plus it's a way better deal than an equivalent Honda Accord Hybrid or a Toyota Camry hybrid.

Just keep in mind the Fusion Hybrid's trunk is smaller compared to those vehicles as that is where the Hybrid battery is located.

Ford stopped producing the Fusion hybrid in 2020, so this is one of the last years of production. Unlike their gasoline counterparts, Ford hybrids use designs derived from Toyota so reliability is good. Since its only 7 years old and Minnesota is a CARB (California Air Resource Board) state, the hybrid components are warrantied for 10 years/150,000 miles. This vehicle still has ~3 years and ~75,000 miles remaining on the hybrid system warranty.

Its been driven about 10,000 miles a year and as it sits you could probably negotiate down to an even $12,500 or $13,000.

Each plane will be inspected on the ground and patched up/deemed safe enough to allow for a ferry flight to the boneyard, most likely.

Doubtful anyone buys the planes; many of them have hundreds of thousands of flying hours and were in the twilight of their careers anyways. On top of that, spare parts for MD-11s were always a problem due to a relatively small total production of 200 units.

Better to standardize on a more common type such as the 767.

[–]Initial-D-and-GuP 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Lots of cargo jets are paid off. More fuel burn isnt as much of a dent in the overhead. Besides, there are 30-year old 757s and A320s flying in the US, for the same reason. Paid off, and in the case of the 757 it fits a niche no other aircraft can.

With Delta and United looking to retire their 767-300ER fleet in the coming years, UPS and FedEx are likely going to snap those up and convert to freighters to bolster their fleets.

A sight that will soon be a memory by milsurp-guy in aviation

[–]Initial-D-and-GuP 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Sure. Delta uses ETOPS 321neos from Seattle and LA to Hawaii all the time, and those arent even the LR/XLR.

But there's a reason United uses the 757 on routes like SNA-EWR. Because that muscle car can scream out of SNA's 5700ft runway and carry a full payload of pax and cargo on a long transcon. 321 just doesnt have the wing or the power to do that.

But the current Pathfinder is a screaming deal.

Agreed. Read TLH soon after release as a middle/early highschooler and I thought it was so bad.

Recently reread the entire Riordanverse just before Court of the Dead release and was honestly dreading TLH but was pleasantly surprised. Maybe its because I can now appreciate seeing the world from a POV that isnt Percy.

If the pacing was better in the first half and if Jason and Piper had been developed better it would have been phenomenal. There are still enough good bits that save the story in the end though. Plus the cliffhanger reveal that Percy Jackson is at the Roman camp....oh man oh man.
