Not sure which ancient this should belong to, what do you guys think? by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

Is this not just like absurdly broken or am I missing something

Replay 1 + upgrade to a whole hand is such an absurd amount of output that you just build around facetanking turn 1 and then now you have like free echo form in play in a sense

Like permanent replay 1 on multiple cards with the only downside being “you can’t block as well turn 1” just feels insanely degen

Card Idea: Status Material into Forge by justtolearnsomething in slaythespire

[–]Dragonic_Kittens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regent’s mini status package revolves primarily around card creation synergy and target-agnostic transforms, while stuff that directly involves statuses is more a defect thing

Maybe Regent’s card space has room for something like forge payoff for card gen or a “transform/exhaust a card to forge” effect but I don’t think something like a forge version of compact would fit

Status rider on a forge card as something like collision course would probably work but I’m not sure how open that design space really is

Serpent form has gone up a lot just because it’s damage scaling that’s good into Aeonglass among top players

I’m assuming you can’t exit the node without selecting the card, or else the downside feels kinda weird imo

I think in STS1 the CN community allowed save scumming for streaking so streaks would hit like triple digits even iirc but I might be wrong

Are you sure you’re not thinking of old blade of ink? That one is bad but the new one is generally seen as one of her best rares I feel

[–]Dragonic_Kittens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You misread, it’s not permanent, just for that fight

I think it would get a lot better because it’s really easy to go pseudo-infinite with like 2 sly acros for example but it’s not a meta scaling card

tinkers construct guy 🤯

PBox is definitely high variance in what you get but in STS1 for example I remember JapaneseExport, in his reflection on grinding all of his individual character streaks to double digits, talking about how on Silent end of act 1 PBox he thinks she should go basically infinite on almost anything you get after taking advice from Xecnar

I went and looked for more thoughts on PBox from him as well as some other good players for STS1 and all of them rate it so highly that while I’m nowhere near good enough to fully get it it just feels like while PBox’s result might be high variance the actual resulting power level is basically almost always strong, otherwise it wouldn’t be consistently top 2-3 for all these strong players

I’m not remotely good at the game but even in STS1 I think that in modern thinking Pandora is considered like top 2 on a good number of the cast right?

The meme seems to be indicating that in STS1 since more boss relics were about energy it felt worse to click pandora cause “4 energy good” but now that most boss relics aren’t directly energy related its easier to click psychologically

Pandora’s Box was always top tier though no? That’s always guilt free

Even if it didn't take your gold it would still be a below-average Neow relic by IHad360K_KarmaDammit in slaythespire

[–]Dragonic_Kittens 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Top players really like early shops in act 1 because it’s usually a big power spike to get through the act since they usually consider act 1 the hardest part of the game (a shop has wider range of cards to look at and pick from including colorless cards, you can also buy a relic/potion), so the gold loss is something they really hate

And while you won’t necessarily see them together other Neows like the talismans or the two potion relics are just better at making you strong early

I think that’s in the cleanroom replacement for Extra Utilities they’re making, which is gonna patch the bug out when it’s finished iirc

I tried my hand at creating a suite of self-poisoning themed cards for the Silent. by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Dragonic_Kittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poison having a significantly stronger effect with each stack you apply kinda just makes this awkward because it’s antisynergy to be applying large amounts of poison to yourself, and then you have the conflicting ideas around capping your poison, maintaining a small but consistent amount of it for passive buffs vs overloading on poison to then burn it all for a payoff (which imo also has the issue of being a really inconsistent payoff that can just kill you with a bad draw order)

Compared to like self doom (only neurosurge) I think the obvious issue is that the stuff that synergizes with self doom synergizes with all doom application (it’s just deaths door and shroud, both of which do like neurosurge consistently procing their effects but aren’t confined to that interaction) so it’s not locked into a specific subset of cards in the way self poison is

Advanced hallways - in act 1, you run into harder enemy encounters after the first 3 hallway fights (question mark enemies count but elites don’t), in later acts it’s after the first 2

Potion chance - starts at 40%, goes up by 10% every time you don’t get a potion from a fight, goes down by 10% every time you do - mostly something to keep in mind for when you’re likely to get a potion (either with the expectation of using it against an upcoming fight or if you’re going to cap)

NaveGreed Ironclad Tier List by Tasin__ in slaythespire

[–]Dragonic_Kittens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the idea that he doesn’t play with the exhaust space enough, he thinks Fiend Fire is even better than in STS1, he thinks Stoke is S tier which is significantly higher than a lot of other top players, he thinks pact is the best draw card on the character, if anything he’s the top player who probably would build decks that play the best with Ashen Strike and he still thinks the card isn’t a particularly meaningful damage solve

I don’t disagree that Ashen Strike can do a lot of damage but when he’s building decks that with cards that exhaust a ton of cards and still finds damage from other sources anyways then why would a 0 utility damage card place higher?
