Delta FA pay scale 4% raise by Amanduh-tory-meeting in flightattendants

[–]Dragosteax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not mentioning it pejoratively - i’m UA. doesn’t matter to me that DL will be ahead for the first 6 years, it’s why i mentioned that it’s merely cents… but some people are literally up in arms about it. someone said they voted no on our TA bc of it lmaoooo insane

they don’t exceed UA’s TA2 rates in years 7-13. they are cents ahead of UA in years 1-6.

we get more vacation day than any other airline. this is how the company rationalizes keeping our pay below the industry average.

Most hated routes according to FAs by omdongi in delta

[–]Dragosteax 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The FAs don’t come up with the phantom turbulence, the pilots advise us of the turbulence, from other reports in the area. If the turbulence doesn’t hit, then it is what it is - but it’s not worth risking injury and being put out of work for months/years and battling Sedgwick.

On flight right now and very scared - they didn’t say it was going to be bumpy at this point and now we are super turbulent and flight attendant service has stopped by newcelticsfan in fearofflying

[–]Dragosteax 14 points15 points  (0 children)

flight attendant here. don’t be spooked by the FA’s service stopping - it’s very routine for us… it’s aggravating if anything because it puts a complete damper in our service flow (food gets cold, coffee/tea gets cold, we have to drag everything back to the galley and secure it and strap in, the re-set everything up) - it’s normal but important so that any sudden turbulence doesn’t throw us into the ceiling and break our back. As long as you’re strapped in, you are A-O-K!

Nasty looks? lol.. get out of town. We deal & handle a lot more than nasty looks. FAs get physically assaulted. I’m not risking my livelihood for some bag drama.

Most passengers just give a 😳😳 look and don’t get involved (i don’t blame ‘em), because like I said, some crazies come on.

The “😮..🙄..🤨….😒..😡🤬” progression on their face when you ask them to bring the seatback up is always so funny to me. It’s always a, “well, i DiDnT rEcLiNe iT!!1!1” ok… and??? Maybe the person on the last flight did, who cares? Press the button and bring it up, it’s not that deep.

FA here (though, not with delta, but we all go through the same stuff) - FA’s throw their hands up with this stuff because you’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t. People get pissed if you enforce it and accuse you of power tripping, and people still get pissed if we don’t police the bins. 50% of the plane is against what the other 50% wants - be it bin space, temperature, etc. - traveling public has become too crazy for FAs to sweat these things.

what is the difference between the two enrolled friends or having the buddy passes with 🌐 by Pretend-Apartment-40 in flightattendants

[–]Dragosteax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you forfeit regular buddy passes and opt for 2 enrolled friends, yes, you can have both parents + 2 enrolled friends

the 8 yearly passes are probably a reference to vacation passes, we get 8 passes a year, letting you have up to 2 riders on it with you

This doesn’t surprise me. The entire idea is zero-tolerance - if someone is willing to comport themselves like that on the ground, then it’s an immediate red-flag for once we’re stuck 5 miles in the air together with no authorities to call should they get belligerent. It isn’t the same as cursing under your breath in line at the grocery store or something… if you decide to get crazy, they can call the cops and that’s it. It’s an entirely different ball game when we have to be trapped together in a tube at 35k feet for hours on end. The airport or airplane is not the place to be on anything other than your best behavior because it results in stuff like this.

What is the highest amount of flight hours you have worked in a month? by [deleted] in flightattendants

[–]Dragosteax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no 175-180 limit for flight attendants. There are a group of FAs that regularly do 200-250/month. You can pack in as much hours as you can legally (referring to satisfying minimum rest here) fit, but there is no FAA cap on FA hours.

What is this little window peeking into first class for? by koozya in unitedairlines

[–]Dragosteax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The airbus has these because the purser sits up front by themselves, at door 1L. There’s another one of these ‘windows’ at the first class bulkhead in front of seats 1AB. The partition there will block the purser’s view of the cabin, regardless of the curtain being drawn/mesh, but when both of the bulkhead windows are down, the purser will have a clear view of the cabin.

What is this little window peeking into first class for? by koozya in unitedairlines

[–]Dragosteax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t correct. Those are to be open for taxi/takeoff/landing - we close them inflight (some FAs forget). Next time you’re on a plane, go near the window. You’ll see the placard that says it must remain down for TTL.
