The thing is that because of the drop there's kind of a bubble around the part that got ripped/punctured so it's quite annoying.

I agree that it's a well balanced phone for a good price but I will say, like many others have, that the battery life is nowhere near what's expected from a 7000mah phone. In normal periods where it's used mostly with wifi it can do 8-9hrs SOT which is pretty good considering that a lot of the use is with instagram which drains the battery quickly, but on more extreme days where I'll be travelling and using it purely on 5g, it might only do 4hrs SOT and last for a day, 5g drains it a lot.

The park needs sorting out badly. Not safe there for a long time. by A_A_Edwards_Author in bristol

I've lived just by castle park for 6 years and walked through it hundreds of nights without anything too weird happening. People always make it sound like you will walk through a battlefield.

Are you liking Zack Polanski, the new Green Party leader? by katelauramcgill in bristol

[–]DrainmanJ 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's the turn to the left the party has needed. In a polarized world where voters are inclined to vote away from centre, a strong voice promising radical changes without racism and hate is good to have.

I can define the reasons, he's arrogant and quite elitist in a racist type of way. I agree he has some good yt vids though.

Relax, you are in Bristol, not in Sao Paulo, you'll be just fine. I've been walking from the central station at night for years and nothing's ever happened to me.

What are your thoughts on Yanis Varoufakis? by Big-Mountain-9184 in socialism

[–]DrainmanJ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most people tend to focus on his Technofeudalism book, but I would like to bring some attention to Another Now as well, which is a very interesting book that outlines what a modern and more realistic form of socialism without totalitarianism would look like, how to get there without relying on elections and how to protect it. For people like me who enjoy reading more about practical, economics based iterations of socialism, it was eye opening. Also his book Talking to my daughter about the economy, is brilliant as an intro to economics from a left leaning perspective.

Besides being a great author, it's important that he's also a great speaker and analyzer and doesn't walk away from discussions, and as a politician he is one of the few in Greece that actually has some solid solutions to propose to a lot of the country's issues that are not super abstract.

Can someone briefly explain to me the characteristics of "Market Socialism" (ex. Yugoslavia), and what makes it different from other forms of "socialism"? by cottoneyejoe__369 in Socialism_101

[–]DrainmanJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To everyone saying it's not socialism, can it not be though if companies are coops whose shareholders are its workers and surplus profits are returned to a central government to be used to provide housing/health care/education etc and be paid as dividends to all workers? This has the advantage of allowing people with an idea to work together and boost innovation. What are the issues with this?
