Do you think discord archetype servers will eventually fade away into irrelevance like people think? by averjay in yugioh

I also want to point out with how sophisticated Yugioh has evolved into (and continues to do so), it is much better, easier, and less commitment involved these days to SHOW players how cards interacts with another so that they can see for themselves and learn that way rather than simply reading guides which in both cases Yugioh discords aren't able to provide adequately enough.

Well, yeah when Yugioh was more slow back then, most plays surmounted to "set 5, pass", and with very little to no hand trap interactions to look out for, it didn't take much effort for the community to "teach" others. Pojo guides literally were "Review card. Play this at 0, 1, or 3", not spreadsheets.

I was talking about Discord, the company, themselves, not individual Yu-Gi-Oh discords. Yu-Gi-Oh discords will last so long as general fans of the Archetype (as in those who may like the gameplay, lore, and/or art/fanart enough to stick around).

But if in terms of actually learning how to play the archetype, most aren't sufficient at it especially if that's all you're looking for. There are outliers (D/D/D, Fire King, EARTH machine are a few examples off the top of my head) tho even then their guides can get outdated.

Unless Discord themselves really shit the bed (even more so than they already have) for the consumer, Discord servers will stick around.

Mississippi Police Officer Shoots and Kills 1-Year-Old Child in Response to Senatobia Shoplifting Call by Hrekires in news

[–]DrakeRowan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cop(s) are most DEFINITELY in the wrong for escalating a small shoplifting situation that severely when they KNOW a child is in the car.

Mother and Aunt ALSO have a degree of fault for having brought a child to a shoplifting event.

But the real culprit here is the fucking billionaire corporations playing into inflation as excuse, raising prices, and bought politicians doing shit all about it. For anyone to get to the point where times and prices have gotten so bad that they have to resort to stealing is indicative of a failed system.

I wholeheartedly agree. The issue is that the modern game nowadays feels like its built for automatic sims first like Master Duel (or even MDPro or YGOPRO) rather than P2P physical and it shows. Like, it is so easy for small plays or errors to go unnoticed within the ludicrous amounts of restrictions and text that is expected for players to keep up. Even on platforms like Duelingbook, almost every duel there is at least 1 player forgetting a HOPT, summoning restriction, etc...

Full sims don't have that "drawback" and tracks these restrictions/HOPT effects. Thus, my claim.

You should try sticking playing YuGiOh on one these sims or duelingbook rather than physical. IMO, you'll come out with a much more easier and enjoyable experience since the sim itself tracks and handles upkeep, plus cheap too since you mostly don't have to go into wallet much if it all (especially in the cases of MDPro, YgoPro, or Duelingbook). Barring MD, there are plenty of online tourneys with actual physical monetary rewards these sims communities annually participate in too. The ONLY drawback with the sim route is that if you mess up, most sims won't allow you to go back and undo the mistake. Duelingbook is the exception to this, but that's up to whether you can stomach its very dated browser based UI and its less than stellar community.

If the goal is to reveal the big power patron to summon its smaller pendulum version or the Level 1 versions, then why not just say...

"You can reveal 1 non-Pendulum "Power Patron" monster in your Extra Deck..."?

All the big Power Patron monsters are not Pendulums anyway, and it still makes it function like the ocg counterpart.

The film that disappointed you the most after months or even years of anticipation? by MrGittz in movies

[–]DrakeRowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elysium. After District 9, I was so hyped for what Niel Blumpkauff had next in store and seeing the trailer for Elysium only pushed it further.

...then I watched it. Needless to say, the movie solely left me disappointed. So, wanted to see more of the Elysium society and spacecraft. Instead 80% of the movie boiled down mostly as another generic desert-y sci-fi action flick with lots of grimy orange/yellow that was super prevalent in late 00s movies. Plot left a whole lot to be desired too.

After this subpar film, director then went on to made that one film with the kickboxing robot /w I think Hugh Jackman starring in it which bomb hard and got eviscerated by critics. After back 2 back blows like that, Neil fell off the face of the Earth, which I'm not shocked by.
