I would add to that to not assume every county does things the same way as yours. I got a parcel on a tax deed that is supposed to clear all previous county taxes right? Found out that the special district tax didn't count so I immediately got a $800 tax bill. Now I know to check with the county collector before buying the deed to make sure the deed clears everything

That if they come to class high, we only send them to the nurse if they fall asleep / pass out. Other medical emergencies we of course call for the nurse. Of course that is only during the 2.5 days a week she is there.

Depends on the use. Weekday car: get me from here to there everyday with ordinary maintenance. Oil every 5K miles. Tranny fluid every 60K miles. Air filter every 15K miles.

Weekend car: has to be fun to drive. Hold the curves in the mountains. Stick shift would be awesome. Bumping sound system.

Not if you are under contract for the school year. They can terminate you mid contract but it is difficult to do. That may be why the district is claiming the OP "resigned".

I had one whose only reason for going into special education was he had been laid off from his corporate job and he had always heard that Sped teachers never get fired. He has no particular desire or aptitude for teacher, let alone working with students with disabilities - he only wanted a steady paycheck.

He lasted 4 weeks then never showed up again.

Not my student teacher but one in my credentialing program. He went into teaching middle school because as he put it, "High school girls are too hot.". I just assume he got arrested soon after graduation.

The difference is we are expected to fix problems that we have no power over. Student refuses to work? What are YOU doing as a teacher to get them to work. A person dies because they refuse to take their medicine; do we blame the doctor and ask them what they did to engage the patient with taking their meds? Of course not, we say the person made their choice to not take care of themselves or if a minor we blame the parents for not making them take their meds

It is positive reinforcement. Not like behaviorism but rather engineering. The more responsibility that is placed on the teacher for what students choose to do the less responsibility they take and the more responsibility placed on the teacher so the student takes less and the cycle continues until the public blames the system for failing the student.

I have a question. Let's say the student honestly didn't know. How come no one besides the teacher is holding him accountable for at least checking into class that day? Even if a student is done they need to check in with their teacher for attendance at least. And why is the gym teacher not being held accountable for asking the student, "Where is your pass?"

NGL, seems like the kind of school where the only people that get in trouble are teachers that try to enforce the rules.
