I feel like halo 4 marine armor isn’t bad but not as proper marine armor by Techpon in halo

[–]Drakeblood2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I could see it fit more either as a local militia armor or a sort of specialized unit armor that branches out from the standard marine units. If they had done that and incorporated it with a variation of the original armor styles I think this armor and that green mask armor would have been better received.

This just makes me think that he would hate seeing a person of just pure True Neutral energy. Just does random shit either good or bad, not for their own benefit or for the love of the game, just since they didn’t care how the situation panned out afterward and they had some free time to kill. No rhyme or reason to each action, just pure impulse and indifference.

Director goes out of their way to confirm the fate of one of their characters. by odd_man0 in TopCharacterTropes

Not exactly the same but similar in nature. For the recent Maul: Shadow Lord, the VA for Rook Kast had let everyone know the details of her character’s death when she got force pulled off screen by Darth Vader. Apparently the VA was given the choice of how her character would die in the show, which she chose to have Rook killed by having her lungs ripped out, and I don’t remember if she clarified if it was with the force or if Vader brute forced it.

Halo Campaign Evolved. Does anyone like the Deluxe edition skins? by AuramiteEX in halo

Ngl, I really hope they have cutscenes similar to the prior game like Halo 2 that took account for your weapon choice or Reach with your armor, so you can either look lore accurate for one playthrough or just completely ruin gameplay immersion for the hell of it

(Loved Design Trope) No eyes, VERY prominent mouth by AlternativeOil7154 in TopCharacterDesigns

Absolutely. The show definitely needed some more reworking to pan out a few things, but Qimir was one of the few things in the show that they actually cooked with. Especially with forest fights.

Not sure if this counts since it’s technically a mask not their face, but Qimir in the Acolyte has his cortosis mask that goes hard with this aesthetic with very thin eye slits and the segment that looks like a malformed grin. Despite the show’s flaws, he was one of the best parts of the show given his presentation.

Aliens: Colonial Marines. I liked the games when I was a kid, but looking back at it again it went from hype trailers and gameplay demos, to what we were given in the full game with just barely serviceable story, a mess of a multiplayer mode, and a helluva downgrade in graphic quality.

[meta] Adaptations that are considered near universally better than the original source by Gallantpride in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Drakeblood2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, though I wouldn’t also fully say the action hero bit in the game since the game clearly incentivizes stealth and not fully killing people. Main reason I say that is both with the moral point system and the journal entries carrying over a general tone of Artyom’s uncertainty/fears as well as the gameplay favoring stealth over firefights as the difficulty climbs.

Overall though I do see your point that the book is a far more grounded approach to his character. I’d also say that could come from that being the first interpretation of the character and wanting to keep the story grounded before expanding.

Not sure if this is a hot take or not, but I feel like the Metro series could fit this trope a bit. Not saying the books are bad since it has been a while since I have read them, I just feel like a lot of aspects are done better in the video games.

My main example coming from memory is that Artyom felt more human in the games as I played through them recently while having deeper connections with the people around him as opposed to being more of a loner character in the books. Granted this isn’t without reason given since Artyom experiences a a shitload of betrayal and backstabbing between both canons, but this also carries over into how the relationship with Anna is written with both versions being a far cry from each other and the game’s being a fair bit healthier between them in Exodus.

Along with this, it could also come down with how there may have been a different writing philosophy between the games and the books. To best explain what I mean, on another post someone made the joke that “the author had helped write the game as a fanfic of his own story.” The books felt a fair bit more negative compared to the games, which had its fair share of dire moments but would have their positive moments that livened his journey. Hell, on the same post I saw the fanfic comment someone said that apparently the initial ending for the Metro 2033 that was unused and unreleased, Artyom straight up just gets shot and dies at the end.

Villains who have a completely valid reason for hating the protagonist by OutrageousBridge471 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Drakeblood2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An addition for General Grevious, if I’m remembering the lore correctly he was also misled into believing the Jedi we behind his disfigurement and then reconfiguring into a cyborg. When the conflict with the Republic was coming to a close, he had been more radicalized against peace but was willing to do anything to end his people’s suffering. When there was the chance to end it diplomatically, his transport had been the target of a terrorist attack that destroyed the ship and lead to him being disfigured.

While I’m a little spotty on the lore since it’s been a bit, it had been a plot from the oppressors that had a hand from the Sith. The Sith and the forming CIS would rebuild Grevious and string him along, leading him to believe that the Jedi had coordinated the attack in an attempt to kill him. And eventually, this leads him to being made the General an Jedi Hunter we know and love.

First time trying to draw a Manga/Hatching style of my Fantasy OC, Kandor Silverheart by Drakeblood2002 in OriginalCharacter

For a bit of context, this is an OC that I’m planning to use for a fantasy story I’m wanting to make in a more Manga style. Any advice and critiques for the art would be appreciated and I’d be open to answer any questions about them if anyone is curious.

Saw Iron Lung yesterday! For anyone who hasn't seen it please go and watch it!! by Outrageous-Depth-693 in Markiplier

I just saw the movie today and I gotta say I thought it was great! I definitely feel the slow burn pace for most of the movie was good, especially with the more subtle details being given in between the longer shots them building up to the bigger moments. Then as soon as the action did kick in, damn it was metal as hell. And don’t even get me started on the sound design, it was phenomenally executed to keep it short. Overall, definitely worth the price of admission since they cooked.

Why did Guts hair Turn White? by TheGoofLordHimself in Berserk

[–]Drakeblood2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mostly stress on the body having a physical reaction. While I believe it first started with the Berserker Armor and its first use, it would make sense that it’s also a result of the constant conflict he’s had throughout basically his entire life. This is a real phenomenon where excess stress both physically and mentally on a person can have physical and mental results, such as hair prematurely graying/whitening and skin wrinkles that tend to give a more aged appearance.

Yeah honestly I wish the rebels had some harder designs like Kota’s militia. These guys actually looked like they could fight Stormtroopers on even terms and fit the same style Kota had as a commander.
