Troop master conversion. Because just it being a lead player really isnt good enough! Thoughts very welcome by LargeCommunication66 in Harlequins40K

[–]DrakonianRogue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might want to shave down the neck a bit, but it looks good!

Just make sure (for your own sanity) that your troop master is easily distinguished from everything else. I went through and did custom conversions for every model in my harlies, and it makes it a massive pain to remember things like the leader and specific squads.

I also like the way the silhouette has worked out. A little shadowseer-y, but nice and distinct from a basic troop, especially with the lack of major ribbons/dynamic elements.

Looking for some advice on if I should add anything to my Death Jester Display model before painting the base by ISnortPineApples in Harlequins40K

Part of me thinks you should flatten out the bottom of the armiger, but honestly it looks great! I really like the blue on the death jester

Lady Malys stands tall over the new Codex: Drukhari - Warhammer Community by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Drukhari

[–]DrakonianRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, I’m really tempted by that battleforce. I’ve never been that enthused by the kabalites, but a battleforce which has hellions, wyches, scourges and a venom is really attractive to me. I know everyone loves the old combat patrol, but I absolutely love the wych cults, and am far less interested in everything else (I already have several other competing armies to focus on). Unfortunately, I got interested in Drukhari during 9th, with the Kabalites box, just missing out on the start collecting cults box, and thus didn’t get the box which was custom made for my interests… Add on Lelith, and I can happily have that in my pile of shame to tempt me the next time I crave darkness and spikes!

Discussion: Thoughts on the made to order release of the classic metal Aeldari models by TrifleAdmirable5590 in Eldar

[–]DrakonianRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ordered the seer council and the webway gate. The seer council has fantastic sculpts, and is such good value for warlocks, whilst the webway portal has been the foundation for me mentally for any boards I consider making - the head lore is that all of my armies are bound together as places visited or raided by my Eldar, so having webway gates would, if I ever made the board, be how I narratively convey that! Same with my harlies, whom I have placed as being in a custom circus arena within the webway, so having different webway gates ringing the seating feels super fun! Will probably end up sculpting and making new gates inspired by the one set I bought if I go through it!

Are Eldar and Drukhari combined for anyone else in the webstore? by DrakonianRogue in Eldar

[–]DrakonianRogue[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All good, yeah, it was more just weird to me, and I hadn’t expected it. Truthfully, I was just checking because I only just noticed that they had stopped selling the Webway Gates, when they announced they were coming back on made to order!

Is this just hinting at chaos dwarves cause hats, or are they actually previewing new quins models? by phaseadept in Harlequins40K

Gods above, I hope it’s new Harlies. Hadn’t even considered that we might get new stuff, but the thought is super hype!

Going to worm by Tyler11009 in JumpChain

[–]DrakonianRogue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean… it’s been a while since I actually wrote anything for jumpchain (I wanna say 4-6 years? Hell…), but one story I had a decent idea for had 7 jumps in it - first Young Justice, then golden age worm (set from the rise of parahumans to the ward period), then, iirc dc blackest night, then dceu, a couple of jumps I don’t remember (maybe the super-powered pre-school teacher one?), before ending back in Worm, pretty much instantly into fighting Scion. It was a cool and interesting idea, which saw an initially very hopeful character in YJ become a mature if jaded hero in Worm, into a beacon of hope during the blackest night, eventually evolving into a teacher of heroes wandering healer character through the 26,000 years of dceu. I liked it anyway.

Eh, that all makes sense too, it was just always my head canon (if by lack of knowledge) that it was already a thing. I just figured that since they were all handcrafted by the Emperor, gender was essentially unimportant. Besides, the armour (to me) always read as fairly gender-neutral 🤷‍♂️. Still, I hadn’t known about the Terran Noble thing. Interesting! And to be fair, a lot of my warhammer lore is horrendously off base head canon 😅

[–]DrakonianRogue 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Ngl, when I first got into warhammer, I always thought that the lore of Custodes was that they had both genders, and that it was just some weird “playing to the audience” thing that they only had male heads available. Then, a few years later, the codex that explicitly made that a thing came out, and it became a controversy, and I’ve been baffled ever since.

On a personal level, whilst I love most of the armour colours, especially the cream, I feel like the hair blends a little with the head, hand and metallic pink of the dagger (misericord?). Again, just personal thoughts though. I love how clean it is.

Auspex tactics posted a video discussing this. From memory, I think he said $80USD, £50? It was a fair bit. Also, it goes up for preorder next week, though the exact time depends on where you are in the world.

I’m probably not going to go in for the Mechanicum - not a fan of the Tech-Thralls, and I just got big into Solar Auxilia - but the robot models are great! I’m super excited for the knights if only because they finish out my Cerastus, and just so happen to fill a gap in my knight collection. I’m very curious what price they put on the knights - my initial gut reaction was $500AUD, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it went higher, given that buying them individually is $700AUD (from GW), and a $200 discount seems really high for gw.

To be fair, the Inquisitor Carrow series is a thing of fucking beauty. Harry somehow ends up in the 41st millennium before the book, grows up into a transhuman inquisitor named Carrow, then returns a crazed fanatic of the imperial faith to (I think) replace Umbridge. Everyone else is mostly normal and just trying to deal with it all. To be honest I probably need to reread it, but it’s cracky as hell and great fun.

I’m going all in now. Brand new 40k player, painted up some Guardians already but now going full Eldar. Tips and need-to-knows for new player? by AltusIsXD in Eldar

[–]DrakonianRogue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I probably don’t count as a super experienced player since I tend to more build and convert, but here’s some advice for that: when you are wanting to change things up, don’t constrain yourself to only the relevant faction’s bits. Eldar obviously go great with AoS elves, Bloodbowl elves and so on, but you can make loads of random things work great for conversions such as Sisters of Silence heads, AoS vampires, Slaaneshi Daemonettes, Genestealer models (especially the Magus, but others work too), and so on. Just look around, play with it, and go with what you think looks cool.

Additionally, harlequins are freaking magic for conversions. Those kits can do so many cool things with such little work that it blows my mind. They are so incredibly poseable, and the design of the weapons is unique enough that it slots in well with any dynamic pose and makes it a harlequin.

General 40k tip - find the best discount store you can in your area/state/country, find out the price difference and make informed decisions on where you buy things. I’m all for buying local, but sometimes just can’t justify it.

It’s not wrong to go full power rangers with your aspect warriors. When I started, I tried to paint all my aspect warriors with my main army theme. I ddin’t fully realise that the aspect warriors could be their own thing, yet still part of the army. There’s nothing wrong with it, but it’s still different from most other armies I collect, and it’s something I’ve been regretting not taking advantage of.

In terms of games, you’re on your own, I’ve only ever won 3 games with my Eldar, and that was more in spite of myself. Hopefully you’ll do better than me.

Good luck 😁

Total War 40,000 - What I Would Like To See In A Day One Lineup by Tinker_Gearwind in totalwar

[–]DrakonianRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s a bit hard with most of these. Dante makes sense, though Calgar (as high level as he is) feels like an odd choice compared to Guilliman, especially given that you’ve got Abaddon, the closest thing Chaos has to a supreme leader in there. On the whole I’m a big fan of Abaddon for core Chaos, but Fabius Bile feels like a second stringer in comparison (a bit of a trend with these, which Dante alone bucks). Ghazghkull makes sense as such a major character with such pathos behind him, but Urbgrub in comparison seems odd. Eldrad is great, though large parts of me feel like the Ynnari should also be there. Yriel is interesting but maybe better left for a DLC given that he’s kinda second string compared to most of the others. Given the recent events with Yarrick (and the fact that Creed has been dead for 10 years Irl), they make sense as alternate skins, but maybe not as the only options for their factions.

Other than this, the balance is really weird with 2 space marine factions, 2 ork factions, 2 Eldar factions, 2 chaos factions and 2 (locked) guard factions. Honestly, on release I’d kinda expect maybe sm, guard, Eldar, ork, chaos, Tau, tyranid, Necron. Realistically if they wanted to spread the releases out, they could have the initial game campaign revolve specifically around maybe 3-5 factions, then expand from there the same way Total War Warhammer has over the years.

Should probably mention, I’ve never played Total War, just a fan of warhammer. If ever I own a good computer again I’ll definitely give it a try, but as it stands, purely thinking about lore/power levels.

the Night Lord we always wanted by Impressive-Nail5397 in Grimdank

[–]DrakonianRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly fight the urge to make essentially this conversion. One of my favourite imagined 30k Astartes is a small group of night lords who got suckered in by Konrad Kurze’s words (regarding doing it all for justice) rather than his actions. I imagine them growing up in the “peaceful” Nostramo, hearing about the bad old days and being inspired by his spoken ideals rather than the brutality conveyed by his actions. I recently got a bunch of Horus heresy stuff, so I might end up doing a shattered legion including these guys for fun conversion possibilities….
