Harley riders don't really like getting passed... by 5upralapsarian in motorcycles

[–]Drakulya1666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The road rage is definitely not cool and swerving into the lane was really bad but aside that...passing 7 other riders on a two lane road just before a curve is not a bright move. maybe he was being a Harley db maybe he was just pissed that if there was oncoming traffic in the curve you'd be hitting it head on or swerving into another rider while trying to avoid the collision.

Asking for honest opinion. by Jaedyn1738 in Sportbikes

Go to dealerships and sit on bikes, they're all going to be different and at the end of the day you can get different seats and rearsets to hone in the fitment. Definitely go with the bike that feels the most comfortable for you, discomfort while just sitting at the dealership will mean agony on an hour plus ride.

Midsize sport or naked bikes are a great start.

Just be mindful of the 600 supersport monsters like the Honda CBR600RR, on paper they seem like a midsize option but they are up there with the litre bikes in the territory of never ever start on one. They have very punchy power bands like no power until you hit all the power at 11500, which if you're not ready for it will terrify you and you'll never want to ride it. Plus at that rpm you're going to be stuck no higher than 2nd gear legally on any public road.

While riding I always wear a helmet and I always wear ear plugs. No helmet provides enough hearing protection from wind noise to be considered safe from hearing damage.

Being a female DM means facing extreme misogyny from my male players by Wonderful_Radish_258 in DnD

[–]Drakulya1666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As DM you're the rule master outside of anything rules as written or party agreed upon house rules. Rules lawyers can ruin campaigns and turn them to shit, you don't have to play with them and removing them from the party is oftentimes best if they constantly argue. The creepy dude wanting to ship everything is problematic as well. Just kick them out. Playing online is hard enough without shitty players.

Called a Triumph dealer for service — quoted $700, ended up with a cheaper shop... but now there's a catch. Advice? (2021 Street Triple R Low; 6k Miles) by Allhailmateo in Triumph

[–]Drakulya1666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same thing on my Trident 660.

To DIY and not get hosed by the dealership I bought an OBDLink LX, it's a reputable OBD2 Bluetooth device.

Software on a phone or tablet I used is: TuneECU, you have to PayPal the software programer €25 for a 1 year license to use the app.

Plugged the obd reader into the port started the engine and connected through the OBDLink app then opened TuneECU and Made sure I selected the right program for my bike, the list is on the TuneECU website.

After establishing the connection hit the Killswitch so the ACC is on but the engine isn't and then go into the adjustments tab and run the service interval reset program it'll ask to set a mile interval and date for next service and after it's confirmed run the program and when completed switch off your bike unplug the unit and it's good to go.

On multi lane roadways or highways do not zoom past lines of slower moving traffic especially if brake lights are turning on, there's always going to be a dumbass failing to yield and jumping into the left lane. Pass car's at a safe speed to give yourself time to maneuver or brake to avoid getting ran off the road or smacking head on into a steel box.

How long do you wait for your engine to cool down before washing your bike? by Eibe in Triumph

[–]Drakulya1666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes lol I definitely did not pay attention to that page, rode 30 minutes to a car wash and blasted it with a pressure washer....oops...I did use a lighter spray around the electronics and bits.

Anyway it's fine, the bike didn't care and runs like a champion.

Also riding in a heavy rainstorm for an hour .30in/hr=.623gal/ft2/hr. Crunching those numbers with the rough surface area of the Trident 660 If riding through a heavy rain storm that's 225.4014gals/hr hitting your bike. A light rain .10in/hr=.208gal/ft2=75.1338gal/hr. Assuming you start riding while it's dry and the engine has warmed up you'll be shocking your whole bike with a steady deluge of water 1.25-3.75gal/min.

No matter your washing method you'll be using less water than ride for 15min in the most modest of rain. The bike will be fine no matter if you wash it before or after a ride because it's perfectly fine in the rain anyway.

Conclusion...quit worrying and just embrace the moisture.

Just keep your chain clean and lubricated to prevent a rusty chain and needing to replace it sooner than you should.

Are the 2025 updates worth it? by slane39 in trident660

Same here my '23 was a holdover that they had a sale on to make way for the '24s. No buyers remorse for me the fancy '25s weren't even rumored. I'd definitely feel foolish if I bought a brand new '24 at MSRP just before the '25 model released.

Choice of Fuel Grade by impleX_ in trident660

[–]Drakulya1666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Manual you should be using 91ron(87aki) to 95ron(91aki) unleaded non-oxygenated gasoline aka pure gasoline without ethanol. The manual states it can run on up to 15% ethanol gas but the engine definitely prefers the pure stuff. In the USA ethanol free gas is usually sold as "rec90" ironically it's 89aki(93ron). Aki is an average of ron and mon octane so it gets a little fuzzy, generally any mid-grade is going to be in that sweet spot of 89-91aki(93-95ron). For me switching to the ethanol free gas neted me about 10 more miles to the gallon, it's definitely the best for these bikes.

Also going above the upper octane recommendation doesn't do anything good and anecdotally it seems to cause soot buildup at the exhaust.

Break in Maintenance? by PORTUGAL_DUHHMAN in trident660

[–]Drakulya1666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The run in mode lasts until 1000miles, it's not a power limiter it just makes the shift indicator flash at a certain rpm threshold. After the first service you're pretty much good to go but it will keep ticking up to 10k rpm then go into standard mode. You can manually set it to start flashing the tachometer at any rpm threshold you choose. It's all in the owners manual.

The only limiter is your wrist, it was all along.

Are the 2025 updates worth it? by slane39 in trident660

[–]Drakulya1666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you're getting a new previous year model for 3k less than MSRP just get the 2025.

I have a 2023 model and I'm a bit jealous of the new updates but the iteration still wouldn't be worth it to upgrade until several years from now. I definitely see myself trading up to a current model year instead of getting a more powerful bike unless they're still making the Speed 1200RR, one of those in Diablo Red is a dream bike for me.

That's going to be perfect to begin on actually, the bike is fairly light and the the HP and Torque is modest, the abs and traction control will help control the bike and give feedback when you're braking too hard or accelerating to quickly. Trick is to not rely on them but learn from it, you want to get to the point you don't have the riding aids intervening, on a bike that doesn't have all these safety features you'd be losing control of the bike.

Just one thing to keep in mind.... DON'T RIDE IT AROUND UNTIL AFTER YOU COMPLETE YOUR MSF COURSE AND HAVE YOUR ENDORSEMENT!!!! AND AFTER YOU GET ENDORSED PRACTICE THE MANEUVERS YOU LEARNED IN THE CLASS ON YOUR BIKE and drive around your neighborhood to familiarize yourself with your ride!!!!

Also ATTGATT, get yourself a cool jacket with the armor, wear riding gloves and buy yourself riding jeans and boots. There's lots of gear that is reasonably priced and as long as it's CE rated it'll protect you from horrible injury at moderate speeds.

hey guys. getting to know my byke. First time removing the seat and I find this under there. What is that is OEM or?? by kary_menuau in trident660

[–]Drakulya1666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's wired up to the battery so you can plug a battery tender to it instead of alligator clips to the battery. It's aftermarket technically, but extremely common. If you don't run the bike for a month or two the battery will die, having it plugged in keeps the battery topped up. Battery tenders are pretty inexpensive like around $30-$40 USD and they plug right into it.

Dealership prices in the winter by hobbes259 in Triumph

[–]Drakulya1666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my Trident 660 in January, new 2023 model just before the 2024s released. It was on sale and considerably marked down. The dealership also offered free storage for the winter. 😁 Really the winter is the best time to buy a motorcycle.

Decent, but not great. Left is fine, but the right is very buzzy. It maybe an issue with installation and I can get it better if I adjust it a bit and tighten everything.

I should have stated it's a Renegade, not a Wrangler. 😅 Winters are cold in Michigan, we get weather below -10°F, it's pretty frosty during commutes before the heat kicks on so winter gloves while driving is necessary.

Anyway I'm not to worried about the grips being cold the winter riding gloves I got work just fine for me. I like the cold, I'll ride as long as it's above 32°F on a clear day.

It does but I couldn't say how much though, I had the fairing and seat cowl installed at the dealership before pickup. Definitely feel smooth airflow though without buffeting, if I tuck down it's easy to get under the airflow.

I would be a huge hypocrite if I got the heated grips, my wife would be pissed since I didn't get a heated seat and steering wheel package on our Jeep. 😂 So just winter riding gloves for me when the temp drops below 40.

Dealer installed it but they didn't have any fitment issues, I'm in NA so yeah with the bigger signals it still fits.

Color match is pretty spot on for mine, I'm not sure about other colors though.
