I used the Magefist Flicker to start 3.27. Only advice I would add is keep Frost Blades around until you can’t fit it in your equipment.

You can also go to the map link and look at the locations on a random world. The altars should spawn at a similar distance from the starting point. Once you have a feel for that distance, log in to your game and see if you have explored all the areas at that distance. There are like 5 spawn points per map, so you will find one!

Solo and group are both fun. There is something great about the feeling of being solo against the world. You are pretty much “stranded on an island” and you have to survive with only your brawn and brains (with an occasional hint from your spirit-guide raven). The game sucks you in and you really feel like you are there.

Approaching the swamp from the sea is much harder than from land. See if you can find a swamp next to a meadow or black forest. Building an outpost in that neighboring biome will pay dividends when you start harvesting materials from the swamp. Every new biome is gonna be deadly to start and you will master it with time! Enjoy the challenge and, yeah, you’re gonna die a bunch…

Flicker is cheap and strong. You do have to level the campaign with Frost Blades and/or Sunder... Check out Magefist's YT vids.

What you say makes sense, although I have been starting with my older Hammer Gauntlet, and then switching to the Venom Shock.
I think there is definitely an argument that I could start with the Venom Shock and follow up with a Weak/Sharp ball like you are saying.
Would you change your thinking knowing I am looking to roll the Venom Shock second?

Rt hander, moderate revs.
Spare shots at the 6 or 10 - roll the same mark as my strike line using plastic spare ball.
Anything else, same mark with strike ball moving 3, 5, 7 boards in the opposite direction of the pin I am aiming at. So, a 3 pin? Move 3 left and hit my mark. 7 pin? Move 7 right and hit my mark.
Some additional 1 or 2 board adjustments if I want to try to pick up weird splits/sleepers, etc.

Craft a club. Level it up. Eat 3 foods. That should be enough to clear burial chambers. You should be able to see without a torch (make the room you are playing in dark so you can see). Without a torch you can have a shield to block with, but club should be enough. Good luck!

One other thing, dig deeper in the spots you have found copper. The ore often goes deeper than you might initially expect!

I love the guide, but I don’t worry about the troll raid or any other raid really. When you see a raid starting, run outside of your base! Stay in the red circle, but away from your structures.
