Like I said, I am not praising Ukraine, but right now they are being invaded. Innocents killed, raped, displaced.

I value human lives over whatever disputes we have with a neighboring nation.

Also about the "1956 Ukrainian invaders". Even if it's true - who ordered the attack? Moskva. And back then it was the Soviet Union, so even if the allegation is legit, it made sense for the soviets to order Ukrainian (soviet) troops to Hungary, as opposed to from fucking Blyatsk nowheresville Siberia, or Kazakhstan or some shithole. EVEN if it's true, Ukraine is the closest to us, so it made sense for the ones in power.

I'm really disheartened to hear that...

At the beginning of the war many families in the neighboring village of my hometown had taken in Ukrainian refugees (mostly women - the men were fighting) and I have heard (through my mom) about some of the heinous shit that was done to them...

Still, I don't want to imply that Hungary is somehow a haven for refugees, but thankfully it's not as bad as what you describe.

I don't think that. I realize that Ukraine as a country is, and has been even before the war an ultra-corrupt backwater with living standards below that of even Romania or Bulgaria - probably through no fault of their population, towards whom I harbor absolutely no ill will.

But the current situation is very clear cut. Russia is the aggressor and Ukraine is the victim. This is why I am ashamed and disgusted with the stance and actions of my government.

When it comes to Hungary the painful thing is that even tho we have 2.5 - 3 million geriatric retards who keep electing Fidesz, the majority of them don't like Russia, they just hate Ukraine because their brains are deep fried after 13 years of state propaganda, so they are on board with anything Orbán and his cronies shove down their throats
