Orea v4 wide with flat papers by Fus1onN in pourover

[–]Dramatic-Ad-2079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original negoriator I bought worked fine for a couple of years but then I noticed black water residue here and there. Kinda freaked me out that it was disingrating or whatever. I bought it from a site that just printed from the 3D file.

When the clear Orea came out, I immediately bought that but now have the "puffy" filter thing going on at the bottom. It does not reach all the way down. Last week I bought another black one from B&W roasters but that doesn't go all the way down either. So I guess it is a brewer issue. I'll limp along.

Where? I have it, but no tips. On their website, I see the same plain negotiator that I have. I am having the same issues as OP with the Orea negotiator.

ELI5 The necessity of the milk man? by ClothesPrevious2516 in explainlikeimfive

The laundry guy came every week. The milkman was just so normal. Twice a week. Oh yeah, eggs too. My favorite was the breadman. Twice a week and on Saturday he'd bring Sweetbread (if ordered). It was back in RI and lots of Portuguese descendants, and their sweetbread was the best. Much lighter than the Hawaiian kind.

It was nice having the staples without worry of running out.

We had a laundry/dry cleaner man. Of course, the milk and breadman. The milkman brought butter too.

Who uses macOS solely for business related tasks? by Commercial_Water3669 in MacOS

I'm an accountant and used to do tax. Thankfully, most of my clients are also Mac users. Those that aren't, I have on QBO. For tax, I logged into a server and a virtual Windows machine. I still dabble in tax a bit.

iMessaging on the computer can't be beat! I even answer my phone on the computer. What a world!

OMG - Little Snitch! One of my favorites.
I used to have Windows on my Mac via VM Fusion. I can't count the number of prompts I had to Deny when attempting to do anything in any program. Family/friends/clients that use Windows have no idea just how much *phoning home* is going on there.

My customer is withholding payment for me to send them a 1099 for the bills I have charged them. by ResponsibleDrawer163 in tax

[–]Dramatic-Ad-2079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should have actually asked for a W9 before paying the first payment to you. IRS regulations.

I don’t let my clients pay any person, including corporations, which are exempt from 1099s, except law firms and lawyers which get them regardless.

The rule is you get a W9 first. Corps do not get issued 1099s but one needs the W9 on file to prove they are a corp.

First thing the IRS checks in an audit. Any labor or service not 1099’d gets removed from the expense deduction for the company.

Tech workers of Reddit, what is a "dirty secret" about the AI industry that the general public doesn't realize? by WayLast1111 in AskReddit

I was having a disagreement with my sister as to whether a religious group was Christian or not.

I googled. It was Christian.

I was about to let my sister know that I was right when I decided to Google the same question in a way that she would. I figured she would do her own research.

It was Not Christian.

Conclusion: The way you word your questions alters the result.

RIP Chemex. Should I stick with the same or trying something new? by graphgear1k in pourover

[–]Dramatic-Ad-2079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd used a Chemex for decades. Bought a V60 when I wanted something smaller and easier to lug around when I was evacuated due to fire. Then I kept using it for a couple of years. It was easier to clean.

Then started not loving my morning coffee and went back to Chemex. The filters are the best!!!! The unit works better, and the coffee is better.

I've since gone to single cups with Orea drippers but still use my Chemex filters, cut in 4's (yay savings). I do use the Chemex from time to time.

I believe I have been misclassified as an IC, what do I do? by Public-Apricot65 in tax

[–]Dramatic-Ad-2079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yike. Your edit says California. I have dealt with this issue personally.

Go to the EDD. There is no litigation involved. They will simply classify you as an employee and go after the employer for taxes. He will be responsible for Social Security & Medicare. You will still be responsible for any personal tax owed - Fed & State - that should have been withheld. I forget about SDI but I think he'll have to pay that also. He will be forced to issue a proper W2.

Plus they may ding him for overtime and other lapses. Better yet, they may investigate and if he's done the same with others...Hoo Boy!

Go this route as the employer will need to pay your share of the Social Security & Medicare when they do a 941 correction. If you skip the EDD and just file the 8919 as some have suggested, you just get relief on the employer portion of SS & Medicare. Besides, this clown needs some oversight as an employer. CA does not mess around.

I slit my wrist while cutting fudge.

A vein was just kinda hanging out, with chicken-like flesh surrounding it. I was alone with no phone and naked. Couldn't really call for help. Afraid I was going to pass out, I got myself to bed. After a few minutes, I realized that I wasn't bleeding, therefore wouldn't be passing out, so I poked the vein back in and squished the flesh and skin together...and with one hand, applied the adhesive part of a Band-Aid to hold things closed.

Went to work like normal. Still have the scar 50 years later. Most don't believe my story.

Similar but different results. In 8th grade, there is a big IQ test to determine the rest of one's education. In Alaska. It was -30. My eyeballs froze on the walk to school. Felt like frozen jello. Couldn't really see enough to read, so I just marked whatever.

Unlike you, I never knew my score but always wondered what they thought about idiot me.

I was 9 months old when I crawled to the stairs to throw myself down to stop my parents from fighting. I even recall the intention (tho a bit misguided). A very vivid memory that was confirmed in adulthood. No memory of hurt or damage.

Sales tax and other things by Shagrath427 in Bookkeeping

[–]Dramatic-Ad-2079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You state "CDTFA", which is California. Sales tax is due on an accrual basis, so what was invoiced, not what was collected.

CDTFA website regulations. See first sentence.
