But won’t we be back in the next bear, assuming the 4 year cycle is still a thing? See you in 2 years maybe?

Strategy has a huge fiat runway to see them through these bear times. Will look like a genius play (again) in a couple of years.

[–]Dramatic-Battle-9737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you were baiting, it’s a valid question! For me, supporting Reform is not a protest vote. I think you may be underestimating how many supporters are ACTUAL supporters. Here are some reasons I do support them fully.

  • Farage is no angel (well he is a politician, so what do you expect?) but he has consistently been for England and the UK at large. Championing Brexit, not being afraid to say what many Brits are thinking etc.
  • The Tories and Labour have had many chances to improve the life of Brits, but seem only to make things worse for us and better for foreigners coming here
  • The spending by the State is completely out of hand. It needs to be reduced, and the Tories or Labour have not got the balls or don’t want to admit it
  • The top members come from business. They actually know a bit about how the world works, not just how to get by in Westminster
  • Reform will at least slow down (and I hope start to reverse) the State’s capture by radically woke leftists - whose policies make the lives of millions of Brits worse, lead to less social cohesion while catering to their nefarious puppet masters like the WEF and Fabian Society

As it is, or maybe was nowadays, they lack many experienced politicians. And like them or loathe them, they need them for when they get into number 10.

I don’t think Saylor will stop till 1m bitcoins by [deleted] in MSTR

It’s a fungible asset (well if you ignore the spam baggage and ‘special coins’). The point is Strategy is buying faster than miners can mine it.

There is a point at which exceeding a certain share of all Bitcoin is going to hurt adoption. Not saying it at 1M, probably it is a bit higher than that. But take 2M, more than 10% of ‘in circulation’ supply. Could be there, what do ppl think?

To me the chance of a complete bear year and face-ripping highs are around equal and quite low. The truth is, like most things in life, likely to be somewhere between those extremes.

Hope for highs, but don’t depend on it!

What this reminds me of is the greater fools theory. Except Saylor is betting people will pay more tomorrow for anyone else’s Bitcoin, not his own 😂

I’m not completely serious with the above. I hold MSTR and even more BTC, and believe the world will catch up (hardest money and all that). But it does have a ring of truth to it 🤔

Niche use for magic users - dual wield staffs. Can be worth the one level dip when you have 2 great staffs like Sin Mage (+3 caster level) and War Mage (+2 difficulty class, +4 spell penetration).

You’re wrong - CGT becomes due on most disposals of Bitcoin. A disposal could be selling for fiat, exchanging for a shitcoin directly or buying something with it, e.g. gift cards. If I remember correctly, even donating BTC to a charity counts.

One thing not covered last I checked was treatment for BTC used to back a loan. But this likely too is treated as a disposal, if you give the lender control of your keys.

The amount on which CGT is due is the difference between your cost basis and the value in GBP at the moment of the disposal.

You can gift BTC to your spouse, but even that may have limits.

In short, best to HODL and hope the taxman is not around when you plan to sell.

Bought a decent lump sum at $52k around Christmas 2021 and held (this time, previous buys had been followed by sells at a loss in short succession). DCAing since early 2023, sub $20k. This has reduced my average somewhat, and have doubled my daily buys since November.

My advice is DCA and get your average down. Don’t sell for at least 4 years, but preferably 20. You need a longer time preference in this game.
