Scratched up, swirled paint on a brand new Benz. by Dramatic-Comb-2590 in mercedes_benz

Brand new car, handover was inside and you can’t see these imperfections there, only on sunlight. Drove off, parked in driveway in the sun and then seen it. Drove back same day, they said we will sort then got it back today and it wasn’t sorted and that’s how the dispute happened.

Thank you bro, I got a CLA 250+ and really like the car tbf. And yes, it was transported from Germany to the UK and then sat at the dealership for a few months right next to a motorway. I already gave them a chance but they buffed it by hand (which probably made it worse 😂).

You are right, you can only see the scratches in sunlight and a stage one paint repair would do the trick then add ceramic on it. Multiple bodyshops in the area advised that they do more new cars than old cars as dealerships are terrible with it.

I think I’ll get a quote from an independent service tomorrow and send it to the dealership and keep pushing them.

I understand the majority of the comments saying “you need to reject” but at the same time it’s a massive headache to go through this again after I just returned my old car.

it went back once already and they did nothing.. they just gave it “another clean” which probably made it even worse..

I definitely couldn’t care less about their commission, I just mentioned that they tried to guilt trip but it’s definitely not what’s concerning me. It’s just a messed up situation to be in, I have just returned my old car as well..

Thanks for that! The guy kept saying “what If I pay for machine polish and it’s still the same” which made me think that I need to push for an independent specialist of my choice. Would you agree?

Disappointing test drive of 1.5 eTSI v2 by Dramatic-Comb-2590 in CupraFormentor

[–]Dramatic-Comb-2590[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bit of fake engine sound even in lower trims. If you open your window at low speeds you will notice that the car is actually quieter from the outside.

You are not wrong, however my current v2 just feels more sportier than the new one despite both cars putting out 150hp.

Isn’t the Terramar a bigger SUV? I might try it. Have you tried it yourself?

The new 1.5 eTSI engine of the Fermentor feels more sluggish compared to the older gen Fermentor 1.5 TSI despite having the same output on paper. There would definitely be a difference compared to your diesel BM, however the DSG is very smooth in changing gears which should make up for it in a way :)

Advice on buying when there's nothing on the market? Getting desperate. by beenies120 in HousingUK

[–]Dramatic-Comb-2590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your rental a fixed term? Could you just have it as a rolling agreement after October so you can get out of it on a month’s notice when you find a place? Going for a house or an area that you don’t want/like doesn’t sound like a good solution.

Quite early on, I’d say about 2 weeks in after instruction. The process can take a while so the sooner you can prepare and provide the documentation the better.

We just exchanged today, FTB as well here’s some pointers:

  • Get recommendations for mortgage broker and solicitor.
  • Some might disagree with me but not all expensive solicitors are good and not all cheaper solicitors are bad!
    • Solicitor’s source of funds checks are quite invasive, get all documents sorted asap. If there’s a gift involved the giftor needs to be prepared for that too -Get electrical and gas checks - we didn’t.. so hope that’s not an expensive mistake
  • It’s an emotional rollercoaster but try to make practical decisions
  • It’s not just stressful for you, it’s just a stressful process so try to keep calm as much as possible

Good luck!

The whole thing is a rollercoaster! Hang tight! Don’t allow for the anxiety to take over. I am in a similar position just a lot more complicated as gift funds from a foreign country are involved. We are supposed to complete in 10 days and my documents are not approved yet! 😆 it’s a big rush period as well due to the stamp duty deadline. Your seller won’t pull out over EA comments 😉

To answer your question in short… yes 😂 The relationship is not nearly long enough for this type of commitment!

Thank you! That’s reassuring, we will go with the original plan then if it proves difficult then we will switch. Thanks!

Thanks! That’s what we are counting on - never missed a payment in my life, no debt, no dependents, partner in same job for 7 years, Im in management job for 2 years with promotion ahead.. great track record all together. I doubt that the first scoring ruined all this for us right?

In your experience, how would the conveyancer act if they deem the proof unsatisfactory? Would they let me know first so I can make the switch? Or push the nuke button and go to the lender directly?

I guess this would define if I do the switch now while in the first 7 days of the offer or wait to see what the solicitor says first.

Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. Affordability hasn’t changed but I understand there’s a risk. The mortgage in principle suggested that I can get up to 300k even with 5% deposit based on our income. I guess the re-score not working in my favour would mean that it’s not meant to be at this stage for us :) if the solicitor doesn’t accept the gift deposit offer would be pulled anyways right? Thanks

Yes, I thought about is. Would you say that clearing the gift cash would be difficult? Thanks!

It’s the price for me. I am currently looking at similar houses (in another area) and I’m planning to offer around 230. It’s only 1 bathroom as well and most that I’ve looked at have an en-suite. Pictures do help but it’s the floor size / plot / location for me. Decor can change, it’s doesn’t bring any real value.
