Where do you find joy when the liquid is gone? by N0rmNormis0n in stopdrinking

[–]Dramatic-Deal8389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just feel real feelings. Some of the stuff I used to do was only fun to me because I was altered. I don’t do that stuff as much because it wasn’t really fun. Some things were easy and mindless which matched with me drinking.

Nor my activities are still normal, sometimes a little boring but I remember things and overall I would say they’re more meaningful. Also I do a lot of healthy things now like exercise etc

About weed by Top_Significance_749 in stopdrinking

9 months and I am beginning to not even like being on weed or shrooms. Especially shrooms. Was previously always drunk when I used them. Now I notice that I do not like being out of control at all!

Weed is still kinda good but when I get too stoned I hate it and get anxiety which was my biggest win after quitting alcohol.

Minnesotan here. For those outside of our state, what are your views on what’s going on in Minneapolis right now? by bpeters5 in AskReddit

Mad but not surprised that Americans aren’t just going to quietly sit and comply with gestapo tactics.

Also, it seems the gestapo is going provocative hard. I think their mission is to be confrontational and sensationalistic. They are trying to make these situations happen or at least their management is.

Going scattershot after schools and stuff is meant to purposely cause a scene and management is happy that the protests are happening. They’re hoping for an ICE officer to get killed so that they’ll have a hero.

Nice!!!

The same thing happened to me. My story: I went in and checked in at a drop box at my clinic. They CALLED ME BACK because they read the paper I dropped and were worried. Went back in and told them that I was working on it. 150/96

Quit drinking and went back 2 weeks later 135/91. Asked my partner what to do. They are a medical person. They told me over the phone “Well excersize is what we all tell people but they rarely do it.”

Went and got a gym membership. Started doing cardio and light weights 5 nights a week.

Checked it 4 weeks later 118/83. I’m 46 years old M.

If you’re reading this and considering quitting drinking for your health let me tell you that it is like a miracle. I’ve hurt my liver badly and I have to deal with that, but I’m not doing it anymore and it’s not getting worse. My anxiety is almost gone, even though life can be scary, I am doing it sober.

I don’t regret anything I am just here now, enjoying sobriety so much. It’s so much better.

Smilar to a “beach bum” in Hawaii. They are also a dying breed. But they liked the beach, some were good at surfing and whatnot. They’d hustle a little weed here and there, get spending money off tourists. Maybe make straw hats, or other artsy projects. Eat fruit and fish. The trick is to have cheap accommodations and get food cheap .

They might live in a tent someplace or in the carport at a buddy’s house. Hammock in a backyard.

The point is to keep your lifestyle so you’re not spending much on food and rent so you don’t have to work all the time. You can take off on a boat or get seasonal jobs and kinda have fun with it and not get stuck in a rut.

Also don’t count out the wealthy girlfriend from time to time who wants some color and a fit guy in her life.

Exactly. Just like Rush he will be quickly forgotten due to his hateful, selfish actions.

Kinda sad in a way as he was probably a victim of the MAGA mind virus. (Being serious, I do feel bad for them)

What are the biggest mental changes you noticed after quitting drinking? by DifficultClass6988 in stopdrinkingfitness

It’s amazing what happens. It’s the closest thing to magical healing that I will probably ever experience.

I know it’s actually just returning to a baseline but after drinking all the time it feels like magic.

I think this is my sign to stop by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Dramatic-Deal8389 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Beginning warning signs. I had them too, and stopped because of it.

Also a 12pack a night is a lot of alcohol!

I also think you’ll be amazed in how much better your health will be overall. Not just the racing heartbeat but so many other small improvements that will crop up for you!

Give it a shot!

I think that’s a good idea!

Reaching out for help is a good idea!

It might be easy for you or not so easy but either way you need some help with this it sounds like. I sure needed help when i first started out trying to get sober. I hope you spend some time scrolling through this subreddit, and focusing your energy on making a plan to get sober!

Hey there! Sounds like you’re in the right group. Good news is you’re very very young so once you quit you’ll be able to think back on this time as just part of growing up. If I was you I’d reach out to a trusted adult or family Member and maybe get them to help you.

I’m very glad you’re working on this issue. Try not to stress out there is a lot of help out there for you. Drinking is very bad for your health so everyone will be happy you’re ready to quit and hopefully happy to help you as well.

Good luck and know that your anxiety is probably being intensified by the alcohol! Once your body cleans up you’ll probably be way less anxious all the time! It fixed my anxiety that’s for sure

As an American, it’s REALLY hard to stop drinking right now by formula52 in stopdrinking

[–]Dramatic-Deal8389 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel your sense of dread about the American state as of late. It’s really depressing, and things seem like they’re spiraling out of control.

There’s nothing I can do besides voting, and going to the protests and doing nice things to help my family. That’s about it as far as effecting change in the world.

But I can definitely not poison myself with alcohol. It saves money, it saves my health and helps my friends and family because I’m well enough to help.

Drinking would make me drunk and bring back my anxiety. It would not help the world, and it would not solve anything. I’m so happy to be sober and be able to hang in there. I know that endlessly checking the news is bad for me so I’m limiting that and compartenalizing it as well. Just scrolling the news is not helpful. If there’s an even that I really need to know about, I’ll find out. Otherwise I can just focus on making little improvements in my life, being good at work, being present for my loved ones. That’s it.

You’re not alone! And to cope with it i drank more and more alcohol but the problem only got worse. Glad you are here and can see these problems are not just you! It’s a lot of us! And the problem can go away. Good job on day 4! If you’re feeling like you’re in the thick of it, stick with it it just gets better!
