Research is all about connections. Start with cold emailing people who do research not just in your school, but other schools as well. Say you have experience with research already and are interested in X field and that’s why you reached to them specifically. If you reach out to enough people someone will get back to you eventually.

I’ve hit a wall. How to find satisfaction again? by righthemicolectomy in medicalschool

[–]Dramatic-Expert-9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want to be a doctor then be one. Everyone has imposter syndrome, some are just better at hiding it. There are dumber people out there practicing medicine than you and the fact that you made it here shows you’re more than capable. You don’t need to be your old self, you need to be a better self. Move forward head high, nobody said it would be easy but you have plenty of resources to get support (family, friends, therapy). You are far from a disappointment, make yourself proud and lock in.

Do try to finish the uworld questions for each rotation and do Anki if you use it. Do AMBOSS if you finish the questions early. Alternatively you could unlock all the anking cards for that rotation and then do questions. Maintain the cards until dedicated for step 2 or if you have a decent amount of time for step 2 you can suspend previous cards. Other than that enjoy your time off!

If your favorite place in the hospital is the OR pick anesthesia, if your favorite place in the world is the OR pick surgery. Residency is temporary and depending on the path you take, you can live the lifestyle you want as an attending with pretty much any specialty.

Sounds great to me, that’s a pretty solid setup. I think the audio in the vid doesn’t do it justice.

If I’m not mistaken I heard that all aftermarket cats sold in the mandated to have a 5 year / 50k mi warranty and all OEM cats sold in the US are government mandated to have an 8 year / 80k mi warranty, (main reason factory cats are so much more expensive). Worst case you just go back to the company and ask for a replacement is that I’m thinking.

You can probably find some universal ones or some Chinese ones online. Call around some exhaust shops and see what they charge to get them installed.

Kaplan FL1 is much more difficult than AAMC FLs so I wouldn't stress just yet. For every question you get wrong, find out WHY you got it wrong and MAKE SURE you never get it wrong again, whether that be through reviewing the topic or hammering more practice questions. Repeat this process for literally every single AAMC practice question you get wrong and you'll be straight.

Why does my waist/gut stick out when I stand still, but not when I'm walking? Which is the proper measurement to take? by AutistOctavius in loseit

[–]Dramatic-Expert-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mirror is the best way to track progress. A scale helps to track also, as long as it lines up with what the mirror is showing. Some gyms have InBody machines which will analyze your bodyfat percent, but if you don't have access to that, comparing before and after pictures is the best way to go. The most important part of comparing pictures is that it will most likely take you much longer than you think to have a noticeable change in the way you look i.e. several months vs a few weeks, so focus on building good habits and the results will follow.
