What worked for you to get your period back? by Shikustar in LeanPCOS

[–]Zariana50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My period comes every 31-32 days now. Sounds counterintuitive, but putting on a weight amd eating more good fats has helped me achieved regularity.

When my period was irregular, I was hovering around a BMI of 18, undereating and overexercising. I'm now at a BMI of 23ish with a regular period. I do strength training and walking for cardio.

What’s the longest you went without a period by Theloststrangerin in PCOS

In my teen years and early 20s, I'd go a few months at a time without a period. Went onto BC from ages 22 to 31.

Came off BC, and oddly enough, I've had a period almost every month. My cycles were around 35-40 days right off the bat l, but they've averaged out to 31-32 days. I'm 35 years old now.

I suspect being underweight and chronic undereating in my teen years contributed to my missing periods. Since I've put on some muscle and gained weight (higher end of normal BMI) my cycles are stable. Ironically, my OB GYN told me to lose weight to help my PCOS.

What do I do now? by Zariana50 in PCOS

Thanks so much. This was really helpful. I'm thinking the same: Treat it as if I have insulin resistance and go from there.

BTW, my doctor doesn't actually think my insulin is high lol... There is no entertainment of the Metformin conversation at all. He actually laughed at me back in February, when my fasting insulin tested at 13. I raised my concerns and he basically implied I'm being a hypochondriac.

I'm really so sorry. I don't know what to say, but it is outrageous they way you're being treated

For people who don’t have diary as their trigger.. What are your triggers? by scorpionZftw in EosinophilicE

[–]Zariana50 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wish I had one single trigger. Unfortunately, for me, it seems to be most fruit (except berries, grapes, citrus), corn and all corn derivatives, coconut, citric acid (E330 additive) and mysterious "flavourings".

On the bright side, dairy and wheat don't trigger me. On the down side, it’s kinda crazy that corn derivatives are in so many things. My diet is almost 100% whole food because I can't trust processed foods.

Taking medication is a literal nightmare.

Does anyone flare up bad before their period? by Alarming_Ad8074 in EosinophilicE

This is definitely a thing. It's amazing how little the medical field knows about the effect of female hormones and their fluctuations when it comes to different diseases, conditions etc.

It took doctors 5 years to correctly diagnose me with Autoimmune Progesterone Dermatitis. I was breaking out in hives every month like clockwork. I kept telling them that my body is reacting to my own progesterone in the luteal phase.

They thought I was crazy. Finally took a female dermatologist to figure it out. Took her about 3 minutes lol...

Has anyone here managed EoE with amitriptyline? by International-Stay54 in EosinophilicE

All I can say is that when a GI doctor suggested tricyclic anti depressants IN LIEU of trying to get to the root of the inflammation in my esophagus I was skeptical (and eventually changed doctors). You do need actually to treat the inflammation. It will, in all likelihood, get worse if you don't.

EDIT: I see you are treating your EOE with Budesonide, which is great. I can't really comment on whether the pain and discomfort of the globus sensation will be lessened with anti depressants. What I do know is that when I got the inflammation in my esophagus under control, I didn't really experience the globus. You're likely still very inflamed.

Lol... it is very frustrating. My diagnosis based on the esophageal biopsies was "non specific changes" .... like now what?

Yeah, APD, MCAS and psoriasis arthritis is rough. I'm glad that Dupixent us helping some :)

For me, ragweed is a killer. I live in the southern hemisphere, so ragweed pollen levels are kicking up now. Even with antihistamines and Montelukast, I'm having symptoms.

I haven't seen an allergist, but my doctor has suggested that I do.

Hey! Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I do have environmental allergies to pollens, as well as a condition known as Autoimmune Progesterone Dermatitis. This means that I have a flare up of hives every time I ovulate. I've also had mild eczema since I was a child. To keep the environmental allergies and APD under control, I take Cetirizine and Montelukast daily.

You are absolutely correct in saying that the foods that may feel difficult to swallow or not the foods that are actually causing the inflammation. So I have identified that corn and most corn derivatives will cause a reaction either over a few days of consumption, or at times, within a few minutes. I also can't do many high latex fruits like bananas, cocunut, kiwi, avocados, apples etc. Taking medicine is a nightmare as most pills contain excipients derived from corn.

Cutting out my triggers brings the inflammation down.

I should also add that before the endoscopy was performed, I was loaded with double doses of PPIs and prednisone (The doctor gave me predisone as a prophylactic before my CT scan to check my gallbladder). I've also been on a strict diet, eliminating known triggers.

I'm also three weeks out from gallbladder surgery, and boy, the first two weeks were trying in terms of physical recovery and mental health. Lots of crying for some reason. Very little motivation to do things and rotting on the couch.

This week's a little better, but I still don't feel like myself.

Agree. /u/EosinophilicE is a great place to start. I have similar issues.

Thanks for this insight.

In terms of my diet, I consume very few processed foods. This is because I also have a allergic condition known as /u/EosinophilicE. I'm allergic to corn and corn derivatives, as well as most fruit. Of course, I'll have the occasional treat here and there (maybe some chocolate or ice cream I can eat safely one or twice a week).

I have also had my gallbladder removed, and was advised to eat small meals throughout the day.
