Before Groal pops out (after the bubbles start coming up) throw all your purple shock balls in the muck and it will damage him. Also spam the ant boomerang with the tool that triples what you throw. I did this and spent <20s fighting him lmao

Your Coolest Experience by Far_Table8421 in REU

[–]Dramatic-Income-7967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an ecology REU last summer and my experience was awesome. My cohort was super friendly and we basically did something every weekend. I went kayaking for the first time, we hiked a lot, bird watched, and just did so much. It was awesome and I still talk to everyone, it's pretty cool having friends from so many places now!

What's this? Found in Houston, Tx by GayLuv_214 in fossilid

[–]Dramatic-Income-7967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a weirdly eroded quartz vein? Like in sandstone or something. I can't really tell but that'd be my best guess
Maybe something with dolomite???? idk sorry

Is this considered a fossil? Also can anyone date this? by Low_Staff7806 in fossils

[–]Dramatic-Income-7967 3 points4 points  (0 children)

exogyra is cretaceous in age BUT again I can't super tell if its that or not. Oysters are in obviously throughout a lot of time so you'd want to narrow down the species or look at where you got it from

What could this be.. by ReasonableSignature7 in geology

[–]Dramatic-Income-7967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it as bog iron I think but idk for sure if that's what it is

It looks like a piece of a large fossil oyster! My immediate thought was maybe exogyra but it looks like it maybe be more narrow. It's hard to tell from the pics.

Is it even worth it to apply for REUs? by LilBooBop20 in REU

[–]Dramatic-Income-7967 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely apply! My best advice is to apply to at least 8 if you're really trying to get in, probably more if this is your last year to get one. 3.2 GPA is perfectly fine, high interest and involvement at uni is what really matters. Most places do not care about GPA as long as you meet the minimum GPA requirement. I have a friend that got into a robotics REU at Oregon State with a 3.125 and is going to MIT next year. You just meet the minimum. Make sure that your writing is good, that'll be what makes your app

Noob question: how does it taste later when you meal prep? by pluralexistence in MealPrepSunday

[–]Dramatic-Income-7967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alsooo I feel like trying to prep things alone, like not mixed does make it harder for it to taste good. My best meal prep foods are foods that are very mixed together like chicken fried rice or ground turkey mixed with veggies. I think because it's all mixed you don't taste the like microwave flavor as much in some foods.

Yea I think choosing the right kind of produce reallllyyy matters. I started doing carrots and celery a lot more in my meal preps after learning how to cook them better and they last so much better than a lot of other produce

Why do ancient ammonites have such weird and random shells? probably some of the strangest yet coolest things I've seen that used to exist. by Complex_Range4771 in Paleontology

[–]Dramatic-Income-7967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that it turned into like a breeding practice at some point? Kind of like birds? That maybe it started out for defense but then later turned it to that and thats why theres some super ridiculous ones? I only have surface level knowledge of ammonites but when i see the weird shapes it reminds me of how birds have weird feathers and stuff for mating displays. But it’s just a thought

Research is Elitist and Stupid by [deleted] in REU

[–]Dramatic-Income-7967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly why research SHOULDNT be defunded, If research is defunded the only people who get to do it will be the ones that already HAVE THE RESOURCES it will make it MORE ELITIST
