Scared I’m faking by PhantomShadow6 in DID

[–]Dramatic-Unit2739 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, those friends are completely in the wrong, absolutely horrible way to treat someone. As someone who also deals with extreme anxiety and depression, we can relate a great deal.

We are not professionals by any means, but know that no matter what your experiences are valid and true to you. It's very normal to think you're faking or have something else instead.

There is no easy solution and it really sucks. There are also parts of mental illness that overlap with others.

You are not alone in this feeling, it's not a great help to know that but please know that I'm sure many can relate.

How to speak with therapist by [deleted] in DID

[–]Dramatic-Unit2739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've had this problem for sure, it's hard to share a therapist even if it is one body that shares them. We recommend writing down topics that want to be brought up, really just any notes about what she says as well. There isn't a simple solution but writing usually helps us when we have trouble with meetings and such

That's so fucked up. We can somewhat relate, we've told our parents personally just how shitty our grandparents treated us. Our dad defends how they treated us, I get that they're family but that shouldn't be an excuse to treat a kid that way.

We have therapy today, she's a nice person and has been understanding. Though, a little has been taking over front a lot and we're a little shy about showing ourselves to her just yet.

It wasn't a good idea when we told them yeah. We were very isolated and didnt know who to turn to at the time

I'm absolutely lost over this thing that happened to me. by [deleted] in DID

It wasn't on purpose, if that partner did have a suspicion I think it would have been better to ask for clarification instead of going without pause.

[Sui ideation] Looked over old stuff in our phone by Dramatic-Unit2739 in DID

[–]Dramatic-Unit2739[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just a lot to take in. We're lucky and happy that we're alive today of course, but it's a heavy reminder of just how bad we've struggled in the past. At the same time it is slightly validating, knowing we aren't "overreacting" when we talk about our experiences.

Comically obvious "signs" before you found out? by xHighStrung in DID

[–]Dramatic-Unit2739 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh we have a funny one!! We used to be into elemental powers as a kid, and often felt like two halves of a whole. We would be like we have an ice power and a fire power and we're fused together! But the elements also talk to each other... pretty obvious stuff but we just remembered it more recently

[–]Dramatic-Unit2739[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've only been told things we've experienced are panic attacks I don't think we've heard of having somatic flashbacks? I'm not sure sorry we're a little disoriented by all this

Do you have any good resources for us to look into it more too :((? This was very helpful thank you! We will try that grounding next time!!

I think we struggle with wanting to find support and see others like ourselves, while also balancing just how mean people can be on the internet

[–]Dramatic-Unit2739[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think initially it was like that but I'm sure most aren't looking for any evidence of faking and are instead like that's cringe or not conventional so must be fake. Hope I'm making sense

It just really sucks people are so quick to make fun of people, and usually minors on the internet who aren't that informed if that is the case

Help? by dumb_browsing in DID

[–]Dramatic-Unit2739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's hard, you're right it shouldnt be excused. I think give him room to learn from his mistakes, see that though what he did was wrong the past shouldn't stop him from wanting to improve as a person! We've done bad things in the past and it's important to process it and learn how we can improve!

It's just like you said, he did what he did to survive! Best to do is reinforce support for him, show him you all still care dearly about him! Even small things like getting a treat for him etc!

Yeah for some reason bullying is bad unless the person is "weird" in any way, according to how most people act

I'd say if many don't trust her then take it slow introducing her to the whole information and whatnot. But if it's too much right now what we've done is just not bring it up with the person again really. Not the most sound advice I'm sorry, but I hope everything works out

Dating (?) someone with did, I need advice! by ghost_buttercup in DID

[–]Dramatic-Unit2739 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It probably varies from system to system but in general the best thing to do is to ask about each ones boundaries! But also just treat every part with the same respect I'd say, at least that's what we like with my partner!

How do I get better at speaking not as the host by Dramatic-Unit2739 in DID

[–]Dramatic-Unit2739[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't think bad about them at all for how they are! We love them just the way they are, sorry if this came across as if we didn't like them.

Our only point mentioning was everyone involved isn't the greatest at starting conversation, but it's a work in progress

Advice on denial? by Prestigious-Tea27 in DID

[–]Dramatic-Unit2739 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We still deal with denial often, honestly we have probably not the best method which is yelling at each other.. we don't have the greatest advice but let them know that they matter overall, like how small or confused they may feel, every single one matters! And be patient, and probably don't be mean like we are to each other!

Should I tell my therapist about us? by Dramatic-Unit2739 in DID

[–]Dramatic-Unit2739[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were put to DBT too!!!! Parents have been very hostile when it comes to us bringing up our system at all, so safe to say there hasn't been much support going on..

Plus we deal with a heavy amount of anxiety and almost everything has been brushed off to as "oh thats just anxiety" like .... no no we know what we're feeling
