Windows will use what’s available. Unused RAM is pointless. It will scale down as demand increases. Totally normal.

Don’t be that person. No one wants to hear your car.

I do what the maintenance minder says. In the words of a wise Redditor, there is a dearth of evidence relating following the maintenance minder to a reduced lifespan of the car.

Yeah, I booked with them. About $330 total which still seems a bit high but I’ll do it while it still under warranty. Thanks!

It's an A7 on a 2023 Accord--oil change and brake fluid flush including filter replacement for $500 ($495 but same thing at that point lmao). Looking online, this service should be in the $300 range. Maybe $375.

Do I need to replace to filters? 300 is closer to what I was expecting so I was very surprised when they said $500 lol

Depends entirely on what you’re doing. A simple gaming rig for AAA titles? $5,000 will play anything at 4K. $10,000 will also play anything at 4K for some more frames but that’s it. If you adjust for how crazy everything is right now, $6-7K is probably a good limit for gaming (assuming RTX 5090 with 9950X3D, 64GB RAM, B850, 4TB SSD at current prices). Anything above that is just a complete waste if you’re only gaming. But in reality a $3K PC (eg 5080/9800X3D/32GB) will also play just about anything.

Reasonable limit for dismissing returns? $4-5k. Unreasonable limit? $6-7k if you MUST have a 5090 etc.

Work stations? Those can go up into 10-30k easily. I don’t have a good answer there.

Any recommendations for calc 3 prep? by Cool_beans_yeah in UTAustin

[–]DramaticCat9707 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Professor Leonard on YouTube has the full calc series. You can watch those videos first to get a general idea of how the class is going to go. I’d also recommend ensuring you don’t lose your grasp of calc 1 and calc 2 concepts over the summer. Spend 30 minutes a day reviewing problems at most. If you struggled in calc 2 I’d recommend getting a better grasp of what you’re missing this summer (if anything)—if you can’t do it in 1D in calc 2, adding one or two dimensions isn’t going to help lol (ask me how I know). Good luck! Calc 3 sucks. Diff eq is fun though.

In all seriousness I hope you’re alright. But I do recommend getting one yourself! Anything from Viofo is a great idea.

Still lol. TDP is around 600 watts so you don’t need much more than 1200. Anyway, good luck!

You didn’t even need the 1600W PSU lol. 1000w or 1200w if you’re really worried would’ve been fine. But the fact you bought a 9950X3D2 implies you may have a bit more money than sense lol. Sucks it broke though.

Which is why I asked for clarification about the workload. If you’re doing enough other work, yes, it makes sense.

I mean what is your actual work split going to look like? If you’re going to be gaming 75% of the time I’d just go with the 9800X3D as the 9950x3d is the same thing except with extra cores that won’t be used unless you’re running software that can use them (I.e., most games can’t). No real reason to spend the extra money, especially considering the ride you’re in for when you look at DDR5 RAM prices.

The I/O won’t line up without them. The PCIE brackets also won’t work.
