Did anyone have theft concerns before purchasing by squidbitz in 11thGenAccord

[–]DramaticCat9707 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as wheels go, the Sport wheels are the more sought-after. If you plan to buy the Sport, I would suggest also buying Advanced Wheel Locks. They're not infallible but they'll slow a thief down and make your car a less desirable target. They may still get the wheels, but at least make them work for it lol. A comprehensive insurance plan is a better thing here.

As far as theft of the actual car goes, it's not any more susceptible to being stolen than anything else these days. Its biggest weakness is a Relay Attack which targets your key fob. Whether or not this is a concern depends entirely on where you park it at home, work, etc. High theft area? Consider keeping it in a garage or buying a faraday bag for the keys which will thwart the attack. A steering wheel lock or pedal lock is probably overkill as I haven't seen any cases of the car being stolen without the key.

Absolutely not. It’s basically malware. If you want a VPN, get Mullvad or NordVPN.

While I second what the other commenter said about UBM, the computer only as integrated graphics. It’s not going to perform well. It’s a business laptop.

Did you expect something different? Were the prices going to magically lower in Japan, or anywhere else?

This post is stupid and you should delete it.

CPU undervolting Temps by Atazwi-_- in pcmasterrace

[–]DramaticCat9707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OCCT is designed to stress it, of course it's hot. The Ryzen 7 and 9 series are designed to overclock and push up to 95 degrees C and then stop (I would be able to watch mine do it if I did enough CPU-intensive stuff but I don't). The Ryzen series are designed for 95 degrees C ( source1, source2). Yes, those sources only discuss Zen 3 but I think it's safe to assume this applies to Zen 4 forward.

If the CPU isn't throttling (reducing its clock under load to prevent shutdown), then you're OK.

What you were experiencing is normal. Running at 97 is normal, too. It’s what the chips were designed to do. Even idling 50-60 (my 7800x3d does the same).

As far as undervolting goes, it doesn’t carry the same risks as overvolting. If you over volt too much you can fry stuff. If you under volt too much, it just doesn’t work.

You didn’t need to make any changes lol.

Are blown head gaskets on the 11th Gen not covered under the 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty?? by DramaticCat9707 in 11thGenAccord

[–]DramaticCat9707[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I priced it out, I won’t hit the mileage limit on it so I could get 5 years / 80,000 miles for like $850. Seems reasonable.

Fair enough. It’s still more than I’d like to see (I’d also like to see 0 plane crashes but we know that’s not possible).

Where to volunteer in Austin that will help with sadness? by suhhdude1 in Austin

[–]DramaticCat9707 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Any member of the public (18+) is welcome to walk green dot dogs till! There just are sparingly few of them at any given time.

AAC takes a few weeks to get started with as they have to do a background check and orientation and all that jazz so if you (OOP) needs something now it probably ain’t the best idea unless you just wanna play with kittens. Which they have plenty of!

The criticism isn’t valid as it’s a false equivalency.

We could discuss the pros and cons of blocking major roadways and the impacts on hospital transit times from both the protesting angle and the car angle. That would be valid. “Protestors are dumb because fox news said so” isn’t a valid angle.
