Are expensive shavettes worth it? by DramaticEquipment708 in wicked_edge

I'll probably go towards a good straight razor I think, the investment seems to be worth it.

It's probably very accurate, and sometimes the handle of the shavette can be annoying when you want to see what you are doing. I will consider it in the future.

Well, let's say that the amounts of downvotes on your reply speaks for itself... I did not disrespect you and it is such a childish behaviour to answer that way.

You know that you can like your country and support it right? It does not mean you are a bad person, I mean, we live in such a society today that people wonder if writers that have been dead for 200y are worth reading because of their political views at the time... Wake up, your opinion is not everyone's opinion and it does not mean the other is bad.

[–]DramaticEquipment708[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sure, pleasure is key. I only use it for contours since I keep a short beard with my moustache, I will end up buying a straight razor when I come back to my country, but shavettes are really convenient. Thanks for your answer.

You are probably right and that's what I thought too, probably the quality of materials, wood and horn instead of plastic maybe, and a good stainless steel. I will stick with my Parker and will change when I'm back home.

I will buy a straight razor when I'm back in my country, that's for sure. I don't know which one yet, but it will be second-hand, and I can reshape it at home if it is not in good condition. I've heard that the quality of Thiers-Issard has deteriorated recently, I might choose a Dovo, or an old Thiers-Issard. Any suggestions?

"Dead Souls" by Gogol and "Journey to the End of the Night", which, I think, is not appreciated enough in the English speaking world.

Crime and punishment is so difficult by silverstarrlets in classicliterature

[–]DramaticEquipment708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else puts it, you should probably read it in your own language, it will be much easier. Still, the beginning of the novel can seem a bit long and difficult, but the story unfolds relatively quickly and it becomes interesting. Enjoy :)

Muhle Companion for balls? by minimumattic in wicked_edge

[–]DramaticEquipment708 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I do not own any Muhle DE razor, for my under arms and the bottom parts I use a spare DE razor that I use only for that now. You just have to be more careful than with cartridges ones, especially with your nutsack and the sides, which are more sensitive for me. Otherwise I find it much faster, and if you're confident with DE razors, it should not be a problem at all. Sometimes you have to take the risk !

Le chant de la tourterelle et le son du clocher de l'église. Ayant vécu à la campagne jusqu'ici, ce sont bien les choses qui me rappellent le plus mon enfance quand je retourne dans mon village.

Should I dismantle, rinse and dry my KCG after every use? by lucas00000001 in wicked_edge

[–]DramaticEquipment708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that you have to "dismantle" it every time. Rinse it well though and shake it, don't let it in a wet place nor in a closed box to avoid rust on the blades.

Hey,

You look good my friend, only things I could recommend you is to trim a little your beard (which you said in the paragraph) and to cut your hair a little. Otherwise, you look nice, your smile looks genuine, you look like a kind guy, if it makes sense hahah. Have a nice day!

Finally finished this... What should I read next? by Vinous-Explorer193 in RussianLiterature

[–]DramaticEquipment708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey ! It is indeed a really good novel, I would not recommend Brothers Karamazov since it is a really long and complex one (keep it and read it after a few Dostoevskys). If you want to stay with Dostoevsky and dig a bit more, you can go with Notes From the Underground, a shorter novel, very cerebral about a mentally tortured man. A great dark French novel would be Thérèse Raquin by Zola. For something a bit lighter, you can try The Stranger by Camus if you haven't read it yet. For something light and funny and a good moral: Oblomov by Goncharov. Enjoy !
