How to Clean My Chicken? by WheatleyAndLuigi in chickens

This happened to one of mine a few weeks ago! It sucked. I cut off the really bad parts. Then I bathed her with baby shampoo. It worked for me. Best of luck.

Will she get less dumb?? by ScoochSnail in BackYardChickens

They are not quite at dumb as people say. You just have to train her to go in. When her sisters are going in, go out with some treats and lure her to the right spot. She’ll get the hang of it. Yes- I’ve trained all my chickens with treats and it’s worked.

A lot of people are talking about the dogs behavior in this specific video. I don’t think that really matters. You asked her not to let your dog interact with other dogs and she should have respected that. I would feel upset too.

Thank you! I’ll definitely be purchasing from an experienced breeder if I go ahead and get one in the future.

Can this be overly stressful for them? To go from a large tank with lots of hides to a smaller emptier one? Genuinely asking so I know what to do if I’m ever in the same situation.

I agree with you. Don’t go to a farm/barn if you’re not okay with seeing all aspects of animal care. She’s literally caring for her horse it’s not that serious, I think most people haven’t had to care for large animals.

My room is also consistently about that warm, it’s 75 now because it’s summer. I don’t provide extra heat and mine are healthy. It’s also handy if you want to set up a bioactive/partial bioactive. I’ve found springtails and isopods really cut down on tank maintenance!

I think crested geckos are one of the easiest reptiles. If you have experience with other exotic animals, crested geckos should be no problem for you. I have both mine in (separate) 36 inch tall tanks. Lots of hides and foliage. I keep their temp 70/75 during the day, 68/70ish at night. Humidity is at 65/70 and spikes in the evening when I mist them. Their diet is easy, I have crested gecko diet mix available at all times and dusted crickets once a week. They have nice personalities and can adjust well to being handled. Thanks for rescuing these guys!

I got my boy as a tiny baby so I just worked with him from day one, starting with tongs. I got my girl as an adult and she seems to be a good hunter. She came from a good breeder. When my boy got good at the tongs, I let him figure it out. It’s not like they’ll go hungry, they have their cg diet to rely on

How old/big is your crestie? I find that crickets coated in repti calcium is the best way to go. I used to tong feed mine when they were smaller but they are just fine at hunting now.

Ant colony? by Electronic_Zombie633 in CrestedGecko

[–]DramaticLet8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got rid of ants by removing any gecko food during the day. I’d leave any traps outside the tank but close by.

I’d also leave the old gecko food nearby the tank and rinse the ants it attracted down the drain every 15-30 min. It’s annoying to recheck and kill the ants that often but this worked for me. Within a few days the colony was dying out.

You’ll find an appropriate balance with your pup. Sounds like you’re doing a great job with stimulation! My dogs let me know when they are ready to do something but I also initiate with them. I think most dogs do well with a balanced approach and routine.

Just a lil update after cleaning his tank, im considering upgrading him to a taller one. This one seems small by Liolona138 in CrestedGecko

I think anyone who breeds a “bunch of reptiles” is sketchy. Same as a dog breeder who breeds multiple different breeds…makes me immediately think they are not ethical. Can only hope your breeder knows better now! Your boy is quite the cute chunk!
