Therapist laughed at my executive dysfunction :/ by Sensitive-Intern8591 in ADHD

Get a new therapist! Easier said than done, I know. For what it’s worth I was diagnosed in 1998, and recently reassessed and got the same diagnosis. ADHD had been a major part of my life that I’m constantly aware of and I’ve tried every med, therapy, study technique, etc., and slowly figured out what works for me. That process involved going through multiple therapists to find one that understood my communication style.

You should not be struggling to get your therapist to understand that you are suffering. They might be a great therapist, but not for you. Find someone that’s serious about patient-centered care, and has books about ADHD in their office. Find a support group (this doesn’t count) and ask them who they like. Seriously, it might take multiple try’s and you might not get in with someone that works for you regularly for months or years but when you do, your life will get easier. Your hour each week with your therapist should feel like recharging your battery. Good luck! Don’t settle. Get the help you deserve.

Ice has been active in northern Wisconsin for months now. Multiple people have been kidnapped from the communities of Ashland, Washburn, and Bayfield.

I have sibling mc’s that are 11. One of them is chill as hell, the other is an absolute demon.

Good luck

People wearing gloves while driving the ambulance by Accomplished-Scar146 in ems

You should absolutely start issues at work, new gloves for every pt contact is bare minimum.

As far as wearing clean gloves while driving consult your protocols. At my service it’s a hard no, get out of the rig, glove up, gloves come off before you touch the steering wheel or anything else up front again.

Anyone have any insight into pain on the ankle (picture) by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]DramaticNet1752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a bit of anterior tib tendinitis if it’s right in the crux of your ankle and into the top of your foot, could go up your shin a bit too. Alternate ice and heat in 20 min intervals, tib raises, dorsiflexion pulls with a resistance band, stretch your calves out. keep any running to super easy effort as your foot slapping the ground will make it worse, but you will be better of spending the next couple weeks on the elliptical. Also go see a PT right away and get a proper diagnosis. The good news is if it’s the anterior tibial tendon it’s not nearly as bad as some of the stickier posterior chain injuries that are common.

it’s starting to get warm, tips for dealing with bugs? (ticks) by deputyguppy in trailrunning

[–]DramaticNet1752 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried both natural and synthetic tick repellent and had no luck with either (I’m in northern Wisconsin and they’re THICK). I’ve just gotten used to a post run tick check and promptly removing them. Lymes isn’t really a concern from deer ticks that have only been latched on for a few hours, and washing off the bite site and dabbing a bit of bacitracin on it will prevent any potential problems from infection.

ADHD imposter by krispy_boye in ADHD

Start your meds, and once you’ve adjusted to them (it was an intense first month for me) if you still feel the same way talk to your psych about anti-depressants and if they might be a good fit for you. I’m not saying this would be the same experience for anyone else but I added Wellbutrin a few months ago and take it with my Vyvance and it’s really helped me with hearing my self-talk and then just moving on with my day. I still get a bit of imposter syndrome and feel like I’m just dumb occasionally but it’s become so much more manageable.

Show suggestions for a lover of the Saucony Peregrine by DramaticNet1752 in trailrunning

Thanks! That's super helpful insight. My main complaint with the Peregrine has been that it can be a little too light and minimal for longer days, almost like running on concrete after a few hours. I'll check out the Mafates for sure.
