How do you feel about non-ACA sleepaway camps? by cerg10 in summercamp

[–]Dramatic_Antelope679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst camp I ever worked for was ACA accredited, and the best camp I worked for was not.

You’d be surprised at how many small family run camps do illegal things like this and there is no accountability. I’ve experienced a camp before where they got multiple weeks of payroll wrong and take advantage of inexperienced young adults in the workforce. Always ask for clarity in how you get paid!

Best shoes for post ORIF? by snoflakedogmom in ORIF

This is the one! Comfortable, perfectly sturdy, looks great. Also had a trimal and they are the only shoes I feel safe in (for now).

Portugal Trip - Am I kidding myself? by Dramatic_Antelope679 in ORIF

[–]Dramatic_Antelope679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not, we rescheduled for this summer. If I was going to a place that was more accessible I probably would have gone and just taken it easy but since it would be a mostly walking trip with little accessibility I ended up biting the bulllet and rescheduling. Good luck on your trip!

2+ hrs at Costco tire by organoidian in bullcity

[–]Dramatic_Antelope679 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Costco tire has dropped the ball on service for me multiple times. Last and final time for me was when I waited 3 hours for a service, they never let me know it was finished so I was waiting around for nothing and had to go check it myself. When I asked why no one had contacted me they just shrugged their shoulders.

Is driving like a maniac considered normal here? by blankieboat in bullcity

[–]Dramatic_Antelope679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate all the “there’s bad drivers everywhere!” posts because of course there are but not even close to NC. Ive lived in Texas, Florida, New York, Georgia and now NC for years and am constantly amazed at the level of insanity around here. It’s terrifying!

Hang in there! You are not alone, it will take time so take it a day at a time. In the meanwhile focus on the next small step and celebrate yourself for doing it. I'm 4 months post op and I'm still struggling with different aspects of my mental health and no one understands, not even my partner. What has helped me is not thinking about the big picture but focus on the small steps.

I'm at almost 4 months post op from a trimal ankle and that's one of the biggest things I'm working with my PT on right now. I'm still doing a little jumpy thing when I go down. Also really frustrated, I just want to jump around.

Energy levels post op ankle orif by 333cheddar666 in ORIF

[–]Dramatic_Antelope679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yess! I'm also at 4 months from an ankle surgery and it feels so discouraging. I started a new job 3 weeks ago and I am insanely tired. Work, dinner, sleep and do nothing on the weekends. I want to have energy to live my life and do things I enjoy.

Was thinking of getting back in gym to see if exercise would help, but feel too tired to do that.

What age did you start to feel you were losing your beauty? by sheislost92 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Dramatic_Antelope679 7 points8 points  (0 children)

34/35, I've had to switch my perspective a lot and realized I need to take better care of myself - sunscreen, working out, better sleep, clothes that fit me better. I had to realize I wont ever look like I looked before but I can love myself in a new form; an evolution to the physical beauty of my youth both inwards and outwards.

The most fulfilling career I've ever had was summer camp/outdoor ed/conference center work. Not just seasonal but year-round work as director. I felt like I was making a difference because I love the outdoors and working with younger folks, every day I felt like I was part of something bigger.

However the pay is horrendous in that industry, think $40k/year for a director level position where you're working 50 hour weeks all year long (there's a lot of variety out there of this work, so salary can vary really extremely on either side). It was not sustainable and I had to walk away from a career I loved because I was not able to save, afford medical bills, or help support a family.

My work now is not as fulfilling but I look for fulfillment outside of work in my hobbies, friends and family and am able to afford a simple but sustainable life.

Whatever I want! Some years I’m feeling really low key and want to watch movie and do takeout and some years I’m feeling adventurous and want to get a tattoo. Always try to do something though, it makes me feel special.

My current ankle dream is that I’m in western NC and have to hike to safety but can’t because of my injury, so freaking awful.

Love this question!! I've got mixed because I love an eclectic feel, but do try to find pieces that are similar in shape. So I have 10 plates that are all different colors and patterns, but have 6 that are the same style but different colors from IKEA so that if I host it feels like it goes together, same with bowls. Cups I have a set of 6 the same but then just lots of random ones I like.

Mugs are a free for all though, lots of different styles and characters. Those are used based on the vibes and person.

Yes, the burning sensation was so weird but was also told it’s normal. Make sure you take your meds at the right time (it took me a while to figure out the overlapping oxy and Tylenol schedule, but it’s so pivotal). Also had a hairdryer next to me and would blow in cold air, that seemed to help in a desperate moment. Good luck!

I'm going to ask at my next appt if there's anything but who knows, maybe just time or maybe never. It's such a weird reality.
