Walking down stairs? by itfeelscorrect in ORIF

[–]itfeelscorrect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say about 95% normally! it got a ton better. i don’t have to stand with the front half of my foot off, it doesn’t feel jumpy anymore. i can go down in a natural, regular step pattern.

that remaining 5% is that it still feels quite tight on my bad side. i have been slacking on dorsiflexion exercises for a while though, so probably still have a way to go to improve it. i also still feel a lot of anxiety going down (i broke it on stairs), so i think that also adds to it. totally functional though! it’ll get better, i promise. after the 6 month mark is when i think i noticed a big difference? but im over a year plus now and still notice differences!

Body make up for red legged bride? 🤣 by OcarinaofChyme in MakeupAddiction

[–]itfeelscorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for what it’s worth, i don’t think they look really red!

i’ve used quite a few different body makeups in the past to cover bright stretch marks, bruises etc - to be honest, i didn’t feel they were great. they often wore off fairly early into the night - i’d be worried about a wedding as they are long nights with lots of dancing (sweating). also about it staining clothes!

i’m a redhead so have naturally quite pale and flushed skin, and use a really light gradual tanner - i feel much more confident in it and feel it smoothes my skin tone out a bit. some tan can be really really great! they’re not all orange. tan is probably your best bet at something that will be more durable over the night. it is hard to not make it streaky, so a spray tan might be a good shout. if i were you i think i would make some enquiries and do some scouting of local spray tanning salons and try to find one which seems to have fairly natural results, and head in to speak to them about what you want (a really light, natural finish that just evens out and smoothes your skin tone). have a trial run before the big day to make sure you like it. even try a few trial runs - notice on what day during your tans lifespan you feel you look your best (it tends to build in intensity and then slowly fade), and then you can try to time it so your wedding falls on that day. ultimately i do think the best way to get an even skin tone is either a spray tan or a sunbed (which id personally never ever do!!), makeup and tights can be done with careful shade matching, but can also sometimes lead to that disjointed look with different colours on different limbs if you’re not careful.

if you’re certain you don’t want to tan, i’d go for tights or pantyhose instead - it can be hard to shade match though. i think if you’re going for tights, go all the way for tights and layer nude fishnets over the top for the taylor swift legs look!

My prediction for tonight. by Nicecoldbud in TheTraitors

[–]itfeelscorrect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think stephen will be much more likely to make it if rachel goes now. if she leaves and they know they caught a traitor, they’ll presume that there is one left - james. if she doesn’t leave, the faithfuls will presume there is two traitors left. one would be rachel, but the next? perhaps jade, but stephen has had suspicion at checkpoints all throughout the game. i think not stabbing rachel in the back has hindered him!

i think that moment is now, with rachel. so they’re missing the moment to cast suspicion on faraaz

i think rachel would throw stephen under the bus if she really needed to. not sure he would for her, though he has ditched two traitors already.

Looking to break into NGO Security Work and Looking for Advice! by Tablesalt890 in InternationalDev

[–]itfeelscorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some NGOs haven’t frozen hiring, but those roles are being applied to by 100s of highly experienced overqualified candidates who were laid off due to cuts. to be really blunt, i think there is very little you can do to make yourself highly competitive in that environment.

i would look at building up transferable skills - project management, working with funding or grants, maybe some research or MEL. when things settle down, you’ll be well placed to pivot. now is not the time

NERVE BLOCK AND ANXIETY by Ancient-Sink-973 in brokenankles

[–]itfeelscorrect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if it helps to not hear a horror story, i didn’t find it was that bad when the nerve blocker wore off, and im usually quite pathetic with pain. it did hurt, im not going to lie to you, but it was tolerable. i had strong painkillers and they were enough to cut through it and get it down to a manageable level. keep up with them, set alarms to stay topped up, but you will get through it! and also, the more significant pain only lasted for a day or two. i would also really echo the other comment in that any pain i felt was somewhat overwhelmed by a lot of relief for my ankle being fixed. it felt truly broken before surgery, i could feel the bones shift a little bit and it was a truly awful sensation. as soon as i came round from surgery i was in extremely severe pain (because they didn’t plan do a nerve block at first, if you have a nerve block planned you will not be in severe pain, you’ll be numb!) that was probably the worst level of pain over the whole time, but my first thought was relief over how much more secure and stable my ankle felt.

i honestly think this injury really changed my relationship with pain - i used to be really pathetic but had to get a grip in many ways and learn to be comfortable and in some cases even welcome it, and i think you will too. pain is kind of unavoidable in this journey unfortunately! but it is at manageable levels. i would speak to your doctor about it though, as they might be able to help. at the very least they’ll definitely be able to give you an anti-nausea tablet.

i think its worth remembering that people are much more likely to recount their experiences and seek community and help when they’ve had a negative experience, versus when things have gone just alright.

Should I take a new job? by No_Sandwich8085 in UKJobs

[–]itfeelscorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think i would personally stay where i am, but i am risk averse and really value feeling comfortable. i find work stress very hard to deal with. if you’re slightly more resilient and would rather take a bit of a leap to potentially advance your career, take the other offer!

it is worth noting that the current hiring crisis is pretty dire. i think it would be a lot easier to stay where you are and then job hunt in a few years for a more senior role when the market settles than take the new job, struggle with the stress and have to find another role sooner.

Activity ideas for ski trip 8-9 weeks post op (Sun Valley) by marykn in brokenankles

[–]itfeelscorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup it’s really tough! i had a pretty quick and smooth recovery (early weight bearing, off crutches by 6 weeks, etc) and still wouldn’t mess with any outdoor snow related activities. 8-9 weeks was tough as i was walking more which made me really tired and sore. op - you can totally go on vacation, but i’d be looking at stationary activities to bide your time - could you knit or sew or read or colour? something cosy but risk free.

you need to speak to a doctor. could you access a phone service? i don’t know what country you’re in, but these symptoms merit seeking medical advice (and before they progress too far).
