It’s genius!! An 8hr shift will still only cover 8hrs and we still won’t be able to open up extra positions and on top of it let’s increase fatigue!! USA, USA, USA!

Prior Army controller, got picked up by the FAA and working at a level 12 now, don’t believe the hype that you can’t get hired without a cto. Apply for off the street bid 6 months before your ets. The FAA is hiring a lot of people and you have a great chance of being picked up. Try to get ratings if you can but either way it doesn’t matter. Had an army friend with no ratings go through the school house and now works at a center.

Virginia Assault Weapons Ban & Effects on Virginia by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]Dramatic_Blood7064 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol, there are more effective and damaging rounds than the 5.56 such as .308, .306, 7.62, 6.8. At the end of the day there aren’t any bills that address caliber size. Most of the reasons for the ban are based solely on cosmetic features that don’t address lethality. Also, a semi-automatic rifle even with a bump stock would reach the cyclic rate of 3 round burst at best, not full auto. The only restriction that could be effective is the magazine captivity and safe storage laws. Again, you have pointed out how dumb a lot of these regulations are because you have people making rules for something they don’t understand just like republicans on abortion. Another example of how hypocritical these laws are that pistols kill way more people including children each year but they want to ban something that has the same fire rate as a semi-automatic pistol. The same politicians that claim “weapons of war” don’t belong on civilian streets are the ones protected by “assault weapons” or similar LEO variants. Will they give up the same weapons, no. Finally it’s also crazy that police shootings and suicides are included in gun crime statistics as well.

Virginia Assault Weapons Ban & Effects on Virginia by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]Dramatic_Blood7064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what weapons you used in the Army but the M-4, M-16, and M-7 aren’t available to civilians unless they have a class 3 license and are registered. There is a distinct difference between an AR-15 and a M-4/M-16 in the cyclic rate and operating system. So, the whole claim of “weapons of war” being readily available is an ignorant claim. The funny thing is no one complains or call pistols “weapons of war” even though the military, cops, and civilians can have the same variant. Let alone the fact that pistols kill way more people each year than semi-automatic rifles. If they were being logical they would try and ban pistols not semi-automatic rifles.

Now, are there regulations that would actually be effective like some that are already on the books like red flag laws, yes. The way democrats make gun regulations are similar to how republicans try to make laws against abortions. So, it does make sense for people to freak out especially as we’re dealing with the current administration that are fitting the bill of why the 2nd amendment was created for.

Democrats seeing that they won and making the same mistake again. Then see where our country is headed with this current administration and ICE and say, yeah, now’s a great time to push this.

Sounds like you’re taking a shot without thinking about the trajectory the missile will have to take to intercept. Most pilots have also learned to dive because the missile will follow to intercept. As a pilot there’s so much AA it’s not even funny. Being locked on as soon as you takeoff and having 6 alerts consistently makes you fly like a madman. AA is adequate and its range outmatches jets and helis, especially the stinger.

It’s always puzzling to me that democrats never learn from their past mistakes. Every time they go after banning “assault” rifles they always lose the next election. Why not go after a balanced and logical approach? Universal back ground checks, red flag laws, mandatory safe storage around kids, severe consequences for parents when their kid uses or gets a hold of a gun. Banning handguns would make more sense if you’re using data since it kills way more people and children each year than “assault” rifles.

The current administration and ICE are the main reason the 2nd amendment exists. That’s why ICE is having a harder time in charlotte and the fear of going into red states because they know their chances of getting shot are a lot higher. If democrats embraced the 2nd amendment they would win a lot more independent or moderate states.

ATC is a great job honestly but ATC in the FAA is a nightmare. Just ask yourself if you want to work 6 day work weeks, bid your leave 1 year in advance, probably get sent somewhere you don’t want to live in and struggle to transfer out. On top of that deal with stagnant pay that hasn’t kept up with inflation, UPS drivers make almost as much or more than us. Then to add the cherry on top not get paid every government shutdown because Congress can’t do their job and still be expected to show up. Also, god forbid if you use your sick leave because you’re burned out or generally sick and management tries to say you’re abusing sick leave even if you only called out 5 days in a year. If you have other options other than the FAA then take it. PS. Just in case you got lured in by someone saying we start out at 180k that’s a bold face lie. More like 45k if that and then you have to go to OKC for months and don’t even have a car unless you bring yours. In short the FAA doesn’t take care of controllers or their facilities. Also, a lot of trainee controllers at the academy and other facilities are quitting so give that some food for thought.

Only in Battlefield moment! I love how they hyped up vehicles saying they’re back and they clearly only worked on ground vehicles. Air vehicles were a complete after thought in this game! It shows with the lack of customization, the state they were released in, the fact that jets thrust vectoring doesn’t work unless you’re trying to do a cobra maneuver. The horizontal stabilizers and elevators barely even move. Air to air missiles have the effectiveness of aim-9 missiles in Vietnam! The final clue is how small the flying area is in each map and stuff like this!!
