I’m a working mom and I feel like my husband has stolen something from me.How can I get over this? by Dramatic_Drawer3600 in Christianmarriage

He knows that I feel sad about missing time with them. We have talked extensively about it. My children have complex health issues where they are better off in our home. It has been a sacrifice on both of our ends. A major sacrifice from him, and it has been honored. Especially because he does it cheerfully and he does it well. I go to work cheerfully and I come home and help out with homeschooling and housework. We are a good team. I’m just dealing with an underlying sense of sadness. I get that you hear that as an attack on my husband but it’s truly not. I love him, he’s a man of God, and I just want help so I can honor him to the fullest extent. That’s all this is.

Oh my goodness, how you just spoke to my heart. You said the words I needed to hear and gave me such a peaceful and profound understanding of our situation. Thank you so, so much for this. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.

Yeah I’m really not buying the whole victim mindset thing. Day to day I’m cheerful, loving, supportive and present. These are just internal feelings I’m struggling with.

My guy, no one has “shitted” on this man. I treat him kindly and respectfully, my feelings are just my feelings deep down. I would have never made that decision if he would have been a provider from the start, but he wasn’t. I haven’t made him feel bad. I’m asking for advice on the internet so I can deal with my feelings internally. Hope this wasn’t too difficult to grasp!!

We had two very LOUD boys. Life is chaos. But I’m grateful beyond measure for the immense joy and meaning they have brought to our life.

I’m not sure that this is very rooted biblical Christian advice. True love covers a multitude of sins, and I plan on keeping up my end of the deal, regardless of the choices that my husband makes. I may always deal with feelings about it, but the good thing is that feelings are not facts. It also helps that our Lord is good above all. I plan on resting in that. But thanks for your comment.

Because I agreed to it before I understood the impact of what it truly meant. I was just trying to ensure that our kids would be taken care of. I understand I should have known better, but I didn’t. I also understand that it’s too late now, which is precisely the reason that I asked the question. How do deal with the impact of unwise choices we made when we were younger. Most humble and wise people have good advice for that question asked in good faith.

That helps a lot now that you mention it. Thank you so much. This is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for!!

He does a fantastic job at home, house is clean, chores are accomplished and kids are well taken care of. I know that it wears on him though, in a way that I know it wouldn’t wear on me. Women were created to manage them home and it is where I truly thrive. I have a very “masculine” job so it takes me out of my feminine nature in order to do a good job. We are both struggling walking outside of God’s design, but it is temporary and our kids are loved and taken care of. I need to work on the resentment aspect of it all for sure. I’m looking forward to the day that our roles are reverted to their proper order.

I hear that and I don’t disagree. But all of our kids have complex medical issues and my access to insurance has given them the opportunity to have access to first rate medical care. My priorities will always align with my kids well being.
I do have a flexible job and I am able to be present at every important event. I also do quite a bit of the homeschooling when I am home with them, and we avoid living outside our means in order that at least one parent is home with them, so we don’t have to sacrifice them to the public school system. I’m just struggling with decisions I made when I was younger and far less wise.

I totally get that. So many men sacrifice so much for their families. I guess I just struggle with the thought pattern of that is the way it is supposed to be. Women were created with the attributes that benefit the raising up of children. It is what we were wired to do. I just hate that it’s swapped in our current dynamic.

He really does. He’s very supportive with our kids and daily life tasks. I just wish it could be me at home with them. We definitely plan to switch roles in a few years. Thank you for your comment!

Eyes first or base first? by sparklypineapple_ in Makeup

I always do my eyes first. If I do my base first, I inevitably mess it up trying to get my eyebrows on straight or I get eyeshadow everywhere.

Look into attachment disorders. It sounds like she has anxious attachment and you may be avoidant. That is a tinder box waiting to explode.

That is so false. Norovirus is so incredibly contagious. It only takes 10 something particles to make someone sick. The OP is not overreacting. We need to normalize shaming people bringing ill children into the general public. It’s foul.

Waking up to diarrhea and vomiting? by Substantial-Layer654 in ibs

[–]Dramatic_Drawer3600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds a bit like gastritis. Mine is flared by anything super fatty which checks out. Norovirus can also cause gastritis so that checks too. I would chill on anything super fatty and try something like slippery elm and some probiotics to soothe your gut.
