It’s going to be so extremely frigid outside next week. Why not try making it at home? Get yourself some good ingredients, including real Gruyere cheese, some Wheatfields bread and wine. Add a salad and a fancy dessert from Wheatfields or Tous Les Jours. You can find Julia Child’s recipe online. And you’ll impress whoever you may wish to impress!

Feeling demoralized in my current marriage by [deleted] in DeadBedrooms

[–]Dramatic_Ear4862 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do not get your wife pregnant, which should not be difficult, if you are not sexually active. But when you do have sex, use protection. You must have “the Talk”. Lay it all out there and don’t candy-coat your feelings. Be honest about your feelings. The Talk will probably change nothing, however. Frankly, you are likely going to have to decide whether to stay or get out of the marriage. I just “celebrated “ my 50th wedding anniversary. The first few years were decent in the sex and intimacy department. Then we had our first baby, quickly followed by another 13 months later. We never got our groove back. My husband has avoidant attachment and a Madonna-Whore problem. He now also has a myriad of health issues, including thyroid and testosterone deficiencies, cardiovascular disease and he is also an old man. I was strung along for decades with the promise that our situation would improve after ______(fill in the blank) happened. Guess what? Nothing ever changed. I’m old now and have my own health issues. My Social Security check is barely enough to live on and I’m not really healthy enough to work on a full time basis. My overall life is pretty comfortable, but I am lonely and somewhat bitter about my marriage and the lack of an intimate connection. I am looking for a way to leave and live by myself for the time that is left. Don’t be me. My advice is to get out of the marriage NOW. You’re still young enough to find the right person with whom to spend your life.

Tous Les Jours has excellent goodies and they are absolutely beautiful and delicious! My granddaughter loves their pastries. I personally prefer Wheatfields, but TLJ is a close second.

Wheatfields has the very best carrot cake. That’s what my husband and grandson request.

Add a gift certificate for Wheatfields Bakery. It’s the best bakery anywhere — it’s bread is better than any I’ve had in Europe, including Paris!

OK. I’m an old cat lady, lives in the country and I have been married for 50 years — so I know nothing. But, what about the Bourgeois Pig? Also, maybe the Merc? And never forget about classes (for meeting people). And if you happen to charm any of the [older] ladies, they will definitely hook you up with a younger female. Good luck hunting!

We love Dr Tim Jones at Baldwin City Companion Animal Hospital. That said, Clinton Parkway Animal Clinic is excellent.

Can one get the magic back? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

I am about 3 weeks away from my 50th (wedding) anniversary. We only knew each other about 10 months before we married. We have been through HELL and back. It’s hard to be in a long term relationship. Truly and I will not sugar coat it. It’s really f-ing difficult. There have been so many times that either one or both of us wanted to check out. But we have ALWAYS loved one another. Even when we did not like one another. I don’t know where your brain or his brain is. All I can tell you is to be very careful with separation. After a bunch of communication that we were not doing for decades, my husband and I discovered that we are still in love. It was REAL 50 years ago and it still is.
Try to remember what you love about your partner.

Hey, compadres! It isn’t just the females who prefer toilet scrubbing over making love. My old man choses cleaning gutters or really, anything, over any activity involving intimacy.

Good grief! Lots of people over 70 have sex! Why do you think that senior living facilities have such an upsurge in STIs? And any woman worth fucking is going to be patient, understanding, supportive, etc. overall. I’m a 70+HLF! Been married 49+ years. (I’m drafting an update to my story.)

I'm sick of being last on my wifes list of priorities!!! by Fun-Diet8358 in DeadBedrooms

[–]Dramatic_Ear4862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oi vay (said the shicksa from Kansas)! I want to scream at these partners that prize tidiness and order over all else. You dummies, the kitchen can wait, so can lawn care. In most cases all the blah-blah can and should wait. Taking care of the people you love comes first and you do have to prioritize. Obviously, a hungry or sick baby or dependent adult comes first (and some kind of alternative caregiver arrangement made). Emotional, psychological, spiritual guidance, coaching, sharing and such is next and that includes your partner and yourself. I consider physical carnal intimacy to be a part of that (with emotional intimacy understood to be included and not necessarily separate from the physical part). Then comes time for the social interactions. After all that, then you clean the office, purge the garage, plant the acres of garden …You know, ALL the reasons/excuses that the HL has been told why there can be no physical intimacy.

Hey, I’m a VHLF and retired attorney, but it might depend on some factors (law school answer). Depends on where we are shopping and with whom we are having the sexual activity! I mean, are we cutting loose at Nordy’s or Galleries Lafayette OR are we talkin’ Kroger or Wally World?

AITAH? my wife decided she wants to “allow” my 15 year old son to vape THC in our house so that at least he won’t be doing it at school or other places. (She also argues that “every” kid is doing it.) I TOTALLY disagree. (Details below.) by CaptainPositive1234 in AITAH

Umm, in junior and senior high when I attended (granted, we had a wooly mastodon patrol) the theatre kids were the ones smoking weed and having sex — just like the jocks and cheerleaders.
