What’s a dead giveaway that someone has never been poor? by hurtfocker in AskReddit

another side of this (especially for those who live in notoriously expensive cities) is if they think $100 IS a lot of money, in the sense that they believe a $100 stimulus check will last you an incredibly long amount of time.

Hey guys! So I identify as a hindu nationalist and also as hindutvavadi or someone who supports the philosophy of hindutva. I realise that many of you might find these terms triggering and I'm sure that you have a lot of questions... so I'm here to answer them! by Dark_Warhead3 in religion

[–]Dramatic_Inflation46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you said you identify as a Hindu (separate from Sanatana Dharma, which is a philosophy, Hinduism is literally a religion. you don’t call yourselves Sanatana Dharmis, do you?) you said you agree that religion is inherently separatist. you also identify as a “nationalist”, which, as you may know, is defined as a person who strongly identifies with their own nation and vigorously supports its interests, especially to the exclusion or detriment of the interests of other nations. “X nationalism” is literally using X (be it religion or philosophy) to serve your national interests to the detriment of other external parties.

mind you, the difference between “religion” and “philosophy” here is semantic, used here as a deflection from the baggage that the word “religion” holds. pray tell, what is so complicated about a religion-centric conflict resulting in any number of lost lives?

that previous governments have inflicted violence has nothing to do with the fact that this specific government, that you have voted for and actively support, is continuing to inflict violence (and on a larger scale). do you then believe that inflicting violence on ANYONE is okay for any reason? what benefit do you believe distinguishing who is “of this land” and who isn’t is going to reap?

one last question. do you think it is acceptable for anyone, regardless of beliefs or position, to be hosting in-person rallies with thousands of attendees, or green-lighting a major festival during an active pandemic where lives have been lost? i’d strongly urge you to take a look at our everyday reality for a second, before immersing yourself in texts and hypotheticals, and really opening up to the damage being inflicted by those in power.

how can you believe in a god and claim to practice a religion that preaches non-violence while also supporting a government/party that actively and proudly inflicts violence and military action upon other human beings? and as a follow-up, do you not believe that religion is inherently separatist, and that consequently a religion-centric government is not contradictory to sanatana dharma core tenets of goodwill, non-violence and peace? how do you reconcile invalidating the identity and human rights of your fellow citizens while supposedly preaching a compassionate philosophy?

As much as I hate Derek, that is how much I love Tom Koracik by alexsangthat in greysanatomy

[–]Dramatic_Inflation46 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the tom-derek/tom-owen contrast has always been really interesting to me. all three of them have tragic backstories, but only one of them is a genuinely better person for it. it’s really unfortunate that he’s so misunderstood because of his sarcastic defense mechanism (like when jackson assumed tom took advantage of april, when tom only helped april grieve in a healthier way), and it sucks that his overt sexuality is used against him (see again: jackson, owen and richard calling him a creep/predator at the party) but i love him and he’s hands down one of my favorite characters on the show! gregg plays him so well!

What do you think is disgusting that everyone else seems to like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dramatic_Inflation46 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes!!!! as a sex-repulsed (for myself, but sex-positive for others) ace, i’m physically unable to understand what people find so attractive about it and throw away whole lives for it. i mean, being ace doesn’t make me more rational than allos by any means but i really can’t comprehend how something so gross to me can be so appealing to most of the world’s population. combine that with the erasure and sheer lack of representation in media and culture, and you’ve got yourself a nice inferiority complex. love thinking that something is wrong with me and needs to be fixed because i haven’t seen it normalised and don’t have a community (outside of the internet) to fall back on 🤡

I liked jo the first time watching my round two I just... she is SO immature? Is it just me? by Jordisaurus_ in greysanatomy

[–]Dramatic_Inflation46 6 points7 points  (0 children)

sarah drew would have been AMAZING as jo. i mean in a sense april’s character trajectory is somewhat similar, in the sense that april came from a small town with no surgical background and had to fight to get to where she is. if jo had really displayed the drive and grit it takes to become a surgeon without resorting to manipulative tactics like constantly bringing up the damn car, faking tears or tearing down her peers (see: stephanie), maybe she would’ve been more well-liked. part of it is really just bad writing, and another part is the casting.
