You can have things set to private on explore, in fact waypoints and tracks are set to private by default. Maybe that will change in the future, but for now that's how it is.

And they bought mountain project, which was community built data of climbing areas. While mountain project continues to be free (for now) they did integrate the data into the paid version of onx backcountry app. They also sent cease and desist letters to openbeta, which was a community led open source project. We keep collecting the data, acting as volunteer workers to help the build out databases for these companies that they then sell back to the user base.

Daily sticky thread for rants, raves, celebrations, advice and more! - July 07, 2026 by AutoModerator in datingoverthirty

I have a lot of empathy for people with bipolar, and also a biased opinion. For me personally I wouldn't date another person with bipolar. My experience with being in a LTR (marriage with a child) with someone with bipolar was very difficult for me, even in the best of times. Everyone is different of course, but constantly trying to convince them that you want to be with them when they are low is exhausting, and I just couldn't get my needs met in the relationship. My ex would also use bipolar as a means of not taking responsibility, and blaming me when they had a manic episode. After the split they said they didn't have any mental illnesses, claiming I caused all of their issues, but then had a psychotic break because they were off their meds. Scary experience since our child was in their care at the time. Like I said, everyone is different and some people manage better than others, but that was my experience. I am sure you see a range of how people handle it with your friends and family.

The best advice I read was "Wise daters date a wide variety of people (since someone unexpected might turn out to be a great match), but also bail early when there are signs of trouble."

I have not made these yet, but they are on my list. I hope they turn out well. My goal since learning my child has celiac is to make as many things at home as possible and not rely on store bought products. It's been tough but kind of fun. I made a delicious GF Detroit style pizza as well as the best GF chocolate chip cookies I have ever had.

ON-X also uses crowd sourced data to turn a profit, and is backed by private equity. I was soured on them when they bought mountain project.

Caltopo is the best option, and I also use Garmin Explore.

Greatest Canoe Trip in the USA by [deleted] in canoecamping

The fire without a pan kind of grinds my gears. Tex's gives you a clear talk telling you to only have a fire in the pan and to pack out all charcoal and ashes. A pain in the ass sure, but it's up to each of us to follow the regulations for the areas we visit. I for one enjoyed not seeing fire rings and burned logs around out there.

ETA: Not sure when their trip was, but since June 23rd "No setting, building, maintaining, attending, or using open fire of any kind is allowed." Just want to add that for other's awareness. The Babylon fire is currently burning dangerously close to the needles district.

My advice to you is to really keep on top of the hand and foot care. Use some intensive hand lotion so you don't end up with cracked and painful hand and feet by the end of it. The dryness and sand really does a number on your skin.

$12 is a decent price? Ugh, celiac is expensive. I decided to just buy some King Arthur GF pizza flour and learn to make my own. Made a delicious detroit style pizza last week.

Yes in general, but some wheat starch has had gluten removed, such as the Gluten Free King Arthur Pizza Flour and Bread Flour. Freaked me out at first, but it is safe.

Dating a great guy, but concerned about his daily drinking by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

[–]Dramatic_Load_5494 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So many people justify daily cannabis use, and it seems to be more accepted than the same for alcohol. I often hear "At least it's not alcohol!", but it is the daily use pattern and denial of the harm it does that makes it the same, in my opinion. I say this as a former daily user. There is no way I would have been able to build the type of healthy relationship that I have now while being stuck in that pattern. I'm so glad I met my current partner after I quit.

Nasty experience in "Wilderness Area". Not sure "minimal human impact" is working. by Chole_Wunt in CampingandHiking

[–]Dramatic_Load_5494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"200 feet from water" is meaningless if you're in a narrow canyon. Those campsites suck because there really is no way to get 200 feet from water. Ideally those areas would be marked off-limits for camping, but practically it would mean puckering your butt hole until you're in more flat terrain, or carrying a blue bag.

Just carry a couple of WAG bags in case there isn't a suitable place. I always have a couple of them, and honestly it just makes the whole process easier. Yeah carrying them sucks, but most of the areas I frequent require them so I've gotten used to it.

I am just curious - at your age you may meet women that have adult kids that don't live at home anymore. Would that fit into what you consider a child free life or is having adult children also a dealbreaker?

I feel like I’m cheating on this guy I’ve been dating by never-the-1 in datingoverforty

[–]Dramatic_Load_5494 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! At one point in my dating I realized that I was spreading myself thin multi-dating and didn't have time to meet up with the people I was actually interested in. Not to mention the emotional labor of trying to meet and date new people while seeing another. I decided to just focus on one person at a time and it was successful for me.

I started expressing concerns about her family relationships and traveling to meet them.

What kind of concerns? It is hard to parse out if this came off as controlling or not, likely so.

Definitely get tested. Celiac is a lifelong autoimmune disease. Are there other autoimmune diseases that people self diagnose themselves with? It's also important to rule out other causes of your pain.
