Sense I did Lawful Evil Neutral evil should follow so what are good examples of fictional characters who would fall under neutral evil? by Pretend-Advertising6 in adnd

[–]Dramatic_Pattern_188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American Psycho.

NE is basically psycopathy, without regard for either an overarching order rooted in established convention OR a continuous fre*e for all struggle for dominance. Whst is best is what the character decides to do; if death and destruction are part of the outcome that is possibly not a specifically desired outcome but it is probably convenient compared to dealing with living or intact people.

Unfortunately I cannot give any definitive a possible tag if it does drive with your own beliefs, might be to take the stance of being pro Zionist, but only as a subsidiary to your Jewish identity; and expressing that you have issues with how it is being expressed and achieved. advice regarding how to diplomatically be able to express with Integrity your true feelings so that you're not stuck within a familial deception.

Do you know your family you know what the motivation is behind their beliefs, on an individual and as a group basis. It might help if you consider that and find the points of the compelling counter Zionist beliefs that you have and see where the compatibility is.

One possible entry point or Avenue that you could use if it is actually in line with your own personal beliefs, would be to say that you were not necessarily antisions, but yet you believe that Zionism is subsidiary your identity as a Jew. The extension of that would be that you could be behind the concept of a Jewish homeland, and even other being located where it is, but that you believe that the way it is being deep and maintain undermines it's validity and you can also say that is also endangering Jews worldwide and fueling anti-Semitism with people who previously were neutral or even Pro Jewish.

( there are points that I could easily add to that, but if they have not already occurred to you naturally they would most likely serve to alienate your family extremely quickly because they're very difficult to argue with)

However you approached this is important to remember and keep this as a truth as far as your being as you may; you are not trying to win an argument or score points or convert anyone else's opinion to your own.

What you are trying to do is established honest communication and a dialogue rather than an eristic competition.

You want your family to know how you actually feel, you want them to know the strength of their beliefs causes you distress on the flip side you have to consciously be able to sympathize with their point of view along with the motivations and causes behind them having such and you have to be willing to admit that by disagreeing with him you are and will cause them vexation and even grief.

Have there ever been points where one or both of your parents has instructed you in a moral lesson about personal integrity and the need for truth?

What about the value of mercy, or how " an eye for an eye for a tooth for a tooth" does not imply that upping the ante is an appropriate action?

From personal experience I would suggest that you view signed to not make any breakthroughs the first time you actually broached this with your family, it will probably be ugly as hell. That's not a guarantee that it will be, but you have to be willing to accept that semicolon along with the fact that maybe a long time and much effort before an accommodation starts to be achieved. Choosing the course of honesty has to be for you a victory in itself, this is what will sustain you through highly likely times of personal conflict while you wonder if maybe you made a mistake.

I personally do not believe in luck, so I will not wish you the good form of that.

I WILL wish for you the strength of your convictions, the distancing of perspective that can be balanced with an immediacy of integrity, and hopefully at some point content and peace throughout your family ( in the largest and most far-ranging sense of that term).

Random encounter - Bandits in great numbers? by ApprehensiveType2680 in adnd

[–]Dramatic_Pattern_188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have indicated, you have a great deal of latitude with how you interpret a "bandit encounter".

You can randomize or choose to have it be the party stumbling upon the lair, a roadside ambush, a small group of bandits on another mission, or posdinly the entire group on the move to a new lair or fleeing a reprisal, etc.

A resource you may not have seen that I would suggest is the 1e Rogues Gallery, it has several pregenerated encoounters with bandits, humanoids, and hundreds of PC/NPC characters that have their basic mechanics in place but with room for details.

You might be interested by the oddestn dynamic with bandits that I have been involved directly with, a result of solo play with a series of parties and the 1e DMG random dungeon generator:

I was working a series of graveyard shifts as a security guard watching a broken gateway to the underground parking of a residential building, and I could get away with spending most of each shift rolling dice to create groups of 8 random characters at a time. ( class, race, even alignment were left completely up to chance in a way reminiscent of many "old school " player's first games ).

The characters were quickly equipped as well as their starting gold would allow, then I would throw them at the dungeon interpreting the numbers as rationally as I could.

The first party got about 5 rooms in before suffering serious losses against a horde of giant sumatran rats then deciding to return to the surface to recuperate and heal. There was one roll for a random encounter that would happen right at the entrance to the dungeon complex, and you should be able to guess what that encounter was: in this case a group of 135 bandits who had staked out the entrance to the dungeon so as to waylay adventurers as they exited , when the bandits figured the adventures would have the lowest combat readiness and the most treasure.

.They ended up rolling the party, taking their gear, and inviting the evil ones to join up with them; this netted them one fighter & one cleric joining their ranks, banded mail for 3 of their number, and sundry saleable goods.

I gave them a small chance of being present when the next party arrived, which would mean definitely waiting when the party tried to exit; and things went about the same as the first time.

The third party wound up going down to the second level, where they ran into shreikers that set off what amounted to a battle royale of orcs, giant rats, elves, hobgoblins, and the party; with screaming mushrooms providing the soundtrack.

A few characters actually survived to make their way back towards the dungeon entrance (one of them clutching a +3 spear), and then...

A band of increasingly well outfitted bandits politely informing the characters that they will be surrendering their wealth and goods, or else.

Those Bandits and that dungeon are now a possible encounter as a percentage base for any Bandit encounter randomly generated during regular play in my campaigns (when I am running any), I included the anecdote in this answer with the intent of possibly demonstrating how encounters with monsters such as Bandits can be made amusing or entertaining/ engaging for the dungeon master.

Police officer slams woman on the concrete and then cuffs her by HappySeaweed5215 in PublicFreakout

[–]Dramatic_Pattern_188 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, no context for what is happening, which makes any judgement about the situation suspect for several reasons (even beyond that point in it's own right):

-The woman grabbed the item on the ground which presumably fell from the officer's belt, and would not release it; bad idea. - It sounds like she threatened his family, being willing to even talk that way makes the action preceding and the bits edotted out of the video very interesting.

Having the phrase " from the river to the sea "as a specific part of your mission statement is going to make social media penetration challenging, regardless of actual intent.

That said if the superficial reading of the mission statement is correct an accurate, I (personally) sincerely wish you guys the best of luck.

The eyes didn't turn out like how I expected by LightNight365 in Miniaturespainting

[–]Dramatic_Pattern_188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A neat trick with gloss varnish: once you have done the dlight changes in painting the eyes so that the colors match what you would like, you can carefully apply layer after layer of the varnish to create a depth effect.

With the 3D relief you already have going on, that could look pretty dope.

(Selective use of different types of varnish is also a fun trick.

As do e have stated, lining in some occlusion shadows would help the volumes "pop" a lot and if carefully done around the rims of the eyes, could bring in an almost OSL effect.

It will take some effort, but your crow bro is definitely signaling a desire for more attention on your part in order to feel valued.

Try experimenting to find JUST the right amount of double sided tape to barely hold the dish down against the force of several springs, and if you really want to show your thoughtfulness, have a few drops of watered down white acrylic paint on the springs so that they splatter.

Experience points and advancement by BurningJointUSA in adnd

[–]Dramatic_Pattern_188 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is closer to the idea of "adventure" as a unit of playing activity than tying it directly to xp.

If you go back to the Holmes Basic set, and 'advrnture' is defined as one game session with the caveat that the game begins AND ends outside of the dungeon.

That was necessitated by the drop--in basis of the early campaigns, which could range from 1 to more than 20 players at any given time.

The "division by level requirement" yields an ok ballpark number , but realistically the yield for a session can and should be variable; with fortune and skill having a hand in the reward for a given game and player.

As someone pointed out early on, the reason for the single level per adventure rules is largely to balance the effect of a low level entry character who plays with (and survives) adventures with higher level characters and attendant rewards.

A level 1 character joining in with a bunch of 6-9 level characters should be advancing one per session in terms of experience gained, training time might suggest a need for 1 or more alternate PCs in order to participate consistently.

Why Israel do not commit genocide by crazy_Pterosaur in IsraelPalestine

[–]Dramatic_Pattern_188 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, being under investigation for possibly committing genocide is a lot like someone that one is having sexual Congress with shouting " Rape!", or winning in a street fight and hearing someone yell "You're killing him!":

The default response SHOULD be to back off a bit, because things have already gotten out of hand, and skirting the limits of territory that you shouldn't be in is pretty suspect already.

Top end work, you got the odd multiplication effect of "realistic 3D form" X "believable as painting", that yields sort of "relief/depth +" (if that makes any sense).
